Trish Heckman, a 49-year-old restaurant cook and disappointed Hillary Rodham Clinton supporter, watched last week as the country's newest political star made her explosive debut.

She followed the news when John McCain introduced Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his vice presidential running mate, paid attention to the raging debate over her qualifications, even tuned in to watch her dramatic speech at the Republican convention.

Sarah Palin's popularity affirms the failure of No Child Left Behind!!! A lot of noise but not follow through.

Thanks Huffpo, for posting this. These are the people the candidates claim to be reaching out to, but in the process, clearly Palin has failed to make a connection.

Obama has shown a genuine concern for the plight of these Americans, and he should know their situations well, what with having Community Organizing experience under his belt.

The McCain camp seems totally oblivious of these people until it's time for a photo-op.

Palin's Appeal To Thinking Women May Be Limited

Sarah Palin is a fake polition who was picked because she is a women and a former alaska beauty queen who is out of touch with americans. This a women who ha chosen to pimp her own family just to get a seat in the white house. Oh yeah i'm sure the repulicans have told her and her husband not to mention her affair with his business partner. Does her down sendrome daughter even looks like her. And as for her sister opening up a gas station. What indivisual you know will open up a gas station when their is a huge housing market? What did Sarah and her pimped out family get from this move.

Sarah Palin does not appeal to THINKING women, whatever working status. Problematically, she appeals to those who do not want to think, but feel assured she'll be thinking for them. (Not limited to any kind of working status.) That, as members of the former mentioned group realize, is a problem.

The polls showing that McCain now actually has a lead - a Palin bump - is scary. The only good thing about it is this: Democrats must now stop believing that voters are so fed up with the Bushians that this election is sure to be won. It isn't. Too many people get their news from Fox & People Magazine. Too many people do not, for some reason or other, want to vote for Obama.

Dems must fight harder. Dems must attack. Dems must hammer in the message. We need change. Palin isn't change, or, she is, but not the right kind of change. Her rightist positions will lead to the kind of change where the US becomes even more of what Bush has stood for: Ignorance in combination with arrogance and hostility whenever facing something the GOP does not like, whether inside or outside the US borders. Less rights for women. Harder lives for families, low income families especially. That's not the kind of change the US' men or women should want.

This is so typical, instead of talking about Palin we need to be talking about issues. Like healthcare, economy etc. When will we ever get to those? 1 or 2 TV debates?

Some woman may think Sarah "gets it, she's just like me" here's something to ponder. While you're out there working or not working and taking care of your home, husband and children, or taking care of your home and children alone, could you also be Vice President/President as well? It may sound good to say she can handle it but in YOUR present circumstance could you? Your future and your family's future is in her hands. If you want something done give it to a busy person. Which minute of the day would she devote to you?

The Repubs have failed to remember one very important fact: Women are much tougher on other women than they are on men. It may not be "fair", but it's true.

They stuck Sarah Palin out there thinking that all women would swoon. They didn't count on us taking a hard look at her life -- public and private -- and making our own decision on her fitness to lead.

As we all know Joe Biden didn't ned to have some time to be taught what to say nor how to say it. He also has his own voice when he speaks he is speaking what he feels and bleives. Palin is a sham built by the GOP when they couldn't agree on someone who might be able to talk without someone writing the speech and teaching them before it how to give it. I would never vote for Hillary but she shines like a beacon compared to this phoney. Palin has been a sorry excuse for a mayor then Gov. during both she has investigations dogging her. Her church it turns out is far more scarey than anything Wright could bring up on a wild man day on the pulpit. Above all I think Palin uses people as well as her own family parading them and bringing them to the surface then declares them off limits when questions need to be asked. The VP job may be "under" the presidents but the hearteat away allows us to know just who might be in those shoes and what they might do to us as well as for us. Palin's judgement should be questioned and she stay home and take care of her kids. I am all for all the rights as females we can get but Palin isn't and the children should never have to have any abortions in a back alley because of the GOP.

They weren't listening then they still not listening now, I guess the never will....

Starry starry night....

As an outsider I cannot believe there are still idiots in the USA. But hey the important issues are life begins at conception, abortion, teh gehys, teh lesbians and all the the other fundie rubbish.

No the economic issues are moot but hey there is a rapture immanent so why worry, let us vote in some more dumb asses for as long as it last.

News flash - there is no rapture. You have all been duped, it was an RCC lie introduced in the 1800's

Google rapture myth
