Dakota Fanning: All Grown Up And Promising To Behave

Dakota Fanning, the precocious child actress who help her own against Sean Penn in "I Am Sam" and who has been a big screen fixture since the 2001 film. She turned 14 in February and is currently in Toronto promoting her upcoming film, "The Secret Life Of Bees" looking like a grown up (scroll for pictures of her over the weekend).

She told Foxnews she will behave, unlike other child-turned-adult stars.

Dakota Fanning made a pledge this weekend, to this reporter. It was consummated with a handshake in front of her mother, publicist, agent and pals.

She's agreed: from now to 'til she's 18, the star of "The Secret Life of Bees" isn't going to be holding up any 7-11s, having an unwanted teen pregnancy, or getting any tattoos or piercings.

Of course, this agreement was a light hearted one, made in jest before she went into do press rounds for "Bees." But she means it. "I swear I won't do any of those things!" Dakota declared.

She's a serious actress, folks, and she knows it. Her poise and comportment in "Bees" is such a revelation that she's likely to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress this year.

I've met plenty of kids who were more adult and mature than their parents. The ability to abuse adult privileges is not the definition of adulthood. Dakota Fanning is one of the most serious, capable, and talented actresses in the world. Give her credit for what she is.

Age does not make adulthood. Attitude and behavior do. Some people never grow up.

She has grown up but she is not a grown up girl....She is bright really good actress and above all one of a kind soul.
There is a world up there who wants her to be women, who sees her as a little women, but make no mistake though, she is a teen with a thoughtful soul. Let her grow away from the media's dirt and dirty state of mind and celebrate just what she offers us, her talent.

She is in=process of growing up which is a delight in that she looks like she knows better thant hang with the certain people for fame. She already has that and will have more with her morals and ideals not on display with anyone partying to acheive what she has. Too many chilld ators try too hard to be adults before their time is up as a kid and the resulting fame for the worng things to have more print time. I have like this kid in her movies even if the movie was a dud as she shines.

As an actress, I can tell you that she is as professional as it gets, talented beyond her years, and raised very well. We can try to "Spears" her, we can not allow her to continue her growth as a young woman and performer, or we can hound her like a rabid dog!
She is grounded and adorable! A rare blend in this world! By the way...for you folks that still want to make "Hollywood" the issue...I simply advise you to open your eyes!
