New York Sun:

Republican political strategists in California are setting up a new political organization which hopes to run television commercials undermining the central themes of Senator Obama's presidential campaign while underscoring the strengths of his Republican opponent, Senator McCain of Arizona.

Leadership for America's Future was formally created on Thursday by a Sacramento, Calif.-based attorney, Thomas Hiltachk, according to a form registering the so-called 527 group with the Internal Revenue Service.

The organization's slick Web site includes a 30-second video (click on "MEDIA") that shows images of war and misery around the world as an announcer gravely warns of the dangers of putting America in untested hands.

It may backfire. People don't like being told that hope is hopeless. And they no longer have a leg to stand on with the "inexperience" argument.

Follow the trail....Thomas Hiltachk and presumably Steve Schmidt worked together for Governor Arnold here in California in 2006 after the recall of Gray Davis.

Therefore, we can only conclude that Steve Schmidt the head of the McCain campaign is behind this. I thought the campaigns couldn't work with 527s?

Just saw a despicable 527 SMEAR against Obama while visiting Dayton, Ohio. The ad was paid for by the blackrepublicans08.com. It distorted Obama's record and really pushed INFANTICIDE and TAXES on the middle class. These people have no conscience. This group took credit for it, but who knows the true funding source.

The point of the piece seems to be that we can't afford a president who appears to be credentialed by the Rodney King School of Foreign Relations (school motto: "Can't we all just get along?...")

Obama has already brought us, "..Iran is a small country..." . What, so their nukes would make smaller holes?

When Russia invaded Georgia he said the U.S. should push for a United Nations Security Council Resolution for “an immediate end to the violence.” (Unfortunately for Obama, Russia is a member of the Security Council and thus has veto power over such a resolution.)

Obama needs to get to work in the Senate understanding the ways of the country and the world and maybe come back for another try when he's got some experience perspective.

experience AND perspective (sorry)

LAst I looked, Republican policies had made all our enemies stronger.

Iran wasn't in Iraq before we invaded. There was no al Qaeda in Iraq, Iraq was secular - now 40% of the population is under Sharia law. And the Taliban - we could have crushed them if we sent 30,000 troops there rather than 130,000 troops to Iraq.

Republicans have no business telling anyone how to keep America safe.

"If you think what America needs is a tax cut for people making over half-a-million dollars a year then vote for McCain. If you think middle-class people are struggling – that their incomes are going down and they need help – vote for Obama. It’s a very simple choice".

Women (Soccer Moms) in particular were worried about national security issues during the 2004 presidential campaign and those women were credited with giving George W. Bush the advantage in his 2004 re-election campaign victory. The right wing machine that's now running John McCain's presidential campaign is hoping they can appeal to these same concerns. After all, that's all they harped on during the three days the GOP National Convention was on TV -- patriotism, security, military service, the POW years, security, commander-in-chief, kickin' butt, etc.

Consider these two strategies in combination: the elevation of fears concerning national security and nominating a woman to be Veep on the GOP ticket. The Rove trained consultants are hoping that equation again gains them support among moderate women voter, a group they need to tip the election in favor of the GOP ticket. And it appears they just might be on target with such a strategy.

You know I have never met a soccor mom that I would think would make a good Vice-President of the United States. I don't think they thought they would be good one either.......
