The McCain campaign is already out with its second Sarah Palin-related campaign ad, a 30-second spot designed to grab the mantle of change from Barack Obama but one that contains some overstated claims.

Titled "Original Mavericks," the ad states that Palin stopped the Bridge to Nowhere -- when, in fact, she favored the project before souring it when it became a national issue. The spot also says Palin "took on big oil," without mentioning that part of the confrontation with the oil industry included levying a windfall profits tax, a policy position that McCain and his advisers have criticized harshly at times.

On a more macro level, the new advertisement continues the McCain campaign's push the ticket's maverick image. While it once seemed far fetched that the Arizona Republican and his running mate could rip the anti-Washington position from Barack Obama's grasp, they clearly are trying and may end up successful -- the spot ends with the phrase: "Real Change."

The ad will air on national cable and in key states.

Here's the script:

The original mavericks.
He fights pork barrel spending.
She stopped the Bridge to Nowhere.
He took on the drug industry.
She took on big oil.
He battled Republicans and reformed Washington.
She battled Republicans and reformed Alaska.
They'll make history. They'll change Washington.
McCain. Palin.
Real change.

UPDATE: The Obama campaign comes back hard, calling the spot a "lie."

"Despite being discredited over and over again by numerous news organizations, the McCain campaign continues to repeat the lie that Sarah Palin stopped the Bridge to Nowhere. John McCain has voted with George Bush 90% of the time and he and Sarah Palin will continue Bush's economic policies, his health care policy, his education policy, his energy policy, and his foreign policy. McCain and Palin will say or do anything to make people believe that they will change something besides the person sitting in the Oval Office. That's the kind of politics people are tired of, and it's anything but change," said Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton.

What is the difference between Sarah Palin and a pit bull? A pit bull is not a pathological liar.

McCains quote "I make them (decisions) as quickly as I can, quicker than the other fellow, if I can. Often my haste is a mistake, but I live with the consequences without complaint."

Living with the consequences of his own mistakes is fine, but can the country afford to live with the consequences of what even John McCain describes as the mistakes that often result from his hasty decision-making?

Sarah Palin - The GOP's new "Joan of Ark" ready to save the Repubican brand...
if she could just make that pesky "Trooper-gate" trial in Alaska go away.

The media just reported that the Republican Womens Association (something like that) is BOYCOTTING OPRAH'S SHOW because she put out a statement from a request by McCain's staff, she was not going to interview Sarah Palin until the election is over. They have now turned to destroying Oprah's viewershp by refusing the McCAin campaign request.

Is that legal????? I am so upset with their slime. So upset with so many victims at the bottom of the steps they've finished off. This is wrong. This is wrong in a FREE society.

In all honesty all sides can play the Boycotting game. Nothing wrong with that. You cannot take CHOICE away from people. Just don't boycott the election !!!!!!!!

Of course it's legal. To make such action illegal would be a clear violation of the First Amendment. You really need to learn more about our laws. Focus on what is wrong with the substance of a boycott, not on whether this group has the right to engage in one.

This is the way the Republicans have always played the game ...and the we let them do it.
Pressure The National Enquirer to expose John Edward's secrets;
but try to intimidate them for exposing Sarah Palin's secrets.
Question Obama's patriotism;
ignore Palin's affiliation with a group that wants Alaska to secede from the US.
Question Obama's school experiences and achievements from Kdg. thru law school;
show no curiousity about Palin's attending 5 colleges in 6 years before receiving her
Bachelor's degree.
Saraha wants to go on Oprah;
but not a News Show (I wonder why?)

Dems must continue to say-
Not this time; not this year.
GET OUT THE VOTE!

Why would she interview Palin anyway, she doesn't want to talk to anyone. That's their excuse to just make themselves look like fools as usual. To bad Palin won't go on, I would like to see some of her lies and her squirm, being asked questions.

She doesn't want to create a 'biased' forum, because she (Oprah) came out early to endorse Barack Obama. She want's to stay neutral......until campaign is over. She stumped for him when he entered the Primary's.

CBS' Bob Schieffer asked John McCain about the number of minorities in the Republican Party.

Partial Transcript:
SCHIEFFER: I want to ask you about the composition of the convention. There were 36 African-American delegates out of 2300-plus delegates there. How can you survive as a party if you become just the party of white people?

McCAIN: We can't. We can't. I saw that information the other day that by, I've forgotten, don't hold me to it, 2042 or something like that, white americans will be a minority in the population of this country. We can't. We've got to reach out. We've got to do a better job. We have to have the Hispanic as well as African-American voters. I've traveled all over this country. I've been to places where there are literally no Republican votes. I have to convince them that I'll be the president of everybody and a Republican party has a job to do. Frankly, it's a job that also spills over into other areas. You've seen the generic ballot.

SCHIEFFER: Were you kind of surprised at all that.

McCAIN: No.

SCHIEFFER: To see that statistic come up?

McCAIN: No. I was obviously disappointed but we need to prove to Americans that this is the party of Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt and Ronald Reagan. We're the party of Abraham Lincoln .

This video is from CBS's Face the Nation, broadcast September 7, 2008.

She stopped the bridge to knowwhere because Federal $ wouldn't pay for the entire amount, she thought she could pull a fast one, but, congress.....knows what a rich 'oil' state, Alaska is..... Palin thought it over and porked up other projects instead.

This woman is such a pathetic fraud, so she's going to use her special needs baby in an ad, well why not, she left him three days after birth to return to work, she could have stayed home longer but her thirst for camera and fame outweighs his needs, obviously the next ad will show her pregnant teen daughter with a sign, VOTE FOR CHANGE, VOTE FOR TEEN PREGNANCY, It's worked for Sarah hasn't it. They aren't going to make this election about issues, can't people see that, it's another WERE THE MORAL MAJORITY, RELIGIOUS RIGHT WACKO election. If you vote for them, your just as bad as they are. I read the article the man who's so happy they will have an advocate for special needs kids in the WH, better look closer, Ms. Mooswoman vetoed the bill in AK and cut the funds for special needs kids. Keep drinkin the kool aid.

As explained in a William Safire op-ed piece in yesterday's NY Times, maverick is an eponymous word derived from the name of a rancher who did not brand his cattle. Whatever else they may be, McCain and Palin cannot be the original mavericks.

Hello Americans, I just wanted to put in a word for the two superhero's palin and mccain. We haven't lost all our rights under the constitution, good old boys george and chenny did the best they could to wipe out the CONSTITUTION, but alas they weren't able to, if we elect palin and mccain they can finish the job, take away all of our rights under what is left of the CONSTITUTION. The two can even take away a woman's right to birth control.
GO GOP, we haven't learned our lesson the last 8 years we need 4 more years for us that still have homes and health insurance to lose them.
GO PAILN AND MCCAIn SCREW US ANOTHER 4 YEARS.
You gotta love them they were pow for 5 years.

The original mavricks? Working for real change? He can't even come up with an original campaign slogan. Didn't Obama come up with the concept of Change? didn't Mccain call it 'empty rhetoric'? Now, all of a sudden because it is working they want to claim it. I have always heard imitation is the greatest form of flattery.

Too bad barack didn't copyright his idea of "Change" Maybe McCain is the "real" change agent...he changes his policy positions much like a windsock changes direction with the wind. he doesn't put "Country First" he puts politics and ambition first....that is so blatantly obvious!!! The Democrats should really focus on that!!
