Back in May, NewsCorp CEO Rupert Murdoch admitted that he had "played a role" in the decision of the New York Post (which he owns) to endorse Barack Obama over home state Senator Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary.

So what is one to presume now that today's Post features an "enthusiastic" endorsement urging "the election of Sen. John S. McCain as the 44th president of the United States."

Here's a bit from the editorial:

McCain has been in Washington for many years now, but he is not of Washington. He knows where the levers of power are located - and how to manipulate them - but he is not controlled by them.

McCain's selection of the charming, but rock-solid, outsider Sarah Palin as his running mate underscores the point.

Neither plays well with others.

And this is an unalloyed asset at a time when special interests - lobbyists, lawyers and organized labor chief among them - wield enormous influence in the nation's capital.

Obama and Sen. Joseph Biden, on the other hand, are leaders of "a party constructed of special interests - public-employee unionists in particular," the editorial states. Of course, the Post adds, "None of this implies an iota of disrespect toward Obama."

For everyone bemoaning the loss of jobs in the US, remember that the minimum wage increase kicked in three months ago and we have lost almost 200,000 jobs since then. Thank you Congress, Nancy and Harry

It's the NY Post. Why does it even matter. That's like the Nat'l Enquirer endorsing a candidate, and we all know they're not reputable. Erm ... well, not usually ... (cough, Edwards).

Maybe because its circulation is the largest in the tri-state, exceeding both the Daily News and the NY Times....hmmm

The Post is a lot cheaper than the Times and is crammed with gossip, perfect for subway reading. Most New Yorkers are liberals, but we get a kick out of the amazing Post headlines. Also, the Daily News and the Post have comparable circulations.

Citizenship, Mr. Murdoch.

Why does Rupert hate democracy so?

Because you cannot have a modern feudal baronetcy in a democracy. Murdoch seeks power, more and more power. His tool is newspapers and destroying the freedom of the press.

It's too bad I'm Agnostic because if I had faith I'd take comfort knowing Murdoch will burn in Hell.

Now Rupert did not become a US citizen just to own the media!

He did it because he loves america!

I'm for the odl POW, guy who supported Bush 95% of time, because he'll get us out of Iraq and deal with other countries diplomatically.

He understands the financial problems we all face, even though he admits not to understanding the financial issues, so h hired Phil Graham as his financial advisor, who is real smart...he figured out were all a bunch of whinners.

But seriously, I'm for McCain because he represents family values. Even though he cheated on his first wife with his current wife, whom he cheated on with a woman lobbyist. Despite all of that, he is true reformer, so much so, that he picked a completely unqualified woman with a history of corruption, who hired lobbyist from Jack Abramhoffs firm to secure earmarks for her little Alaskan town. I'm sure he'll put the country first though....Freakin Republican's make me ill.
