Roger Hernandez, Syndicated Columnist And HuffPost Blogger, Dies At 53

BOONTON TWP. -- Roger Emilio Hernandez died Saturday morning, Sept. 6, 2008, at the Valley Hospital in Ridgewood. He was 53.

Born in Havana, Cuba, his family immigrated to the United States in 1964, settling in West New York. He had lived in Montclair before moving to Boonton Township six years ago.

Mr. Hernandez earned his bachelor's degree in communication from Rutgers University in 1977.

A journalist, he had been employed with NJ Institute of Technology in Newark for the last 10 years. He was also a cofounder of Galloping Hill Media in Boonton Township.

Mr. Hernandez was a nationally syndicated newspaper columnist with King Features Inc. He wrote for numerous newspapers including the Washington Post, The Philadelphia Enquirer and the Jersey Journal.
