ROME — There's nothing stopping Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin from serving well in the White House, according to the men who now hold the nation's highest offices.

"She's had executive experience, and that's what it takes to be a capable person in here in Washington, D.C., in the executive branch," President Bush said in an interview to be shown Tuesday on Fox News Channel's "Fox and Friends."

"John McCain made an inspired pick," Bush added. The former two-term Texas governor came to Washington without experience in national office _ the path Palin is trying to follow.

Vice President Dick Cheney told reporters in Rome on Monday that he "loved" Palin's speech to the Republican National Convention. Cheney laughed when he recounted her line about the difference between hockey moms and pit bulls being a coat of lipstick.

"I thought her appearance at the convention was superb," Cheney said. He was asked whether he thought Palin could handle the No. 2 job under a president John McCain.

"Everybody brings a different set of experiences to the office and also a different kind of understanding with whoever the president is," Cheney said during remarks at the residence of U.S. Ambassador to Italy Ronald P. Spogli.

"Each administration is different," he said. "And there's no reason why Sarah Palin can't be a successful vice president in a McCain administration. Such a White House, he said, "won't look exactly like the Bush administration or the first Bush administration, the Ford administration. It'll be relatively unique to this president and this time that they're in office."

Cheney had spoken with Palin before and met her once at a governors conference, a representative of the vice president said. After McCain named her as his running mate, he called to congratulate her.

Gosh, I feel deeply reassured that Cheney endorses her. Now, we can all rest in peace.

Except there won't be any peace, if McCain/Pailin win. Look at what is happening in Georgia. The Repugs are gearing up to take on Russia (another war front) but what they really want is for the American people to take on the (cost) of securing the waters between Russia and Alaska for their own exploration. We are being faced with another war (cold, I hope and expensive of course) over oil and with McCain/Palin in office it will be over OIL once again.

Dick, that is embarrassing. Humiliating they made you say that. I feel your pain.

I'm pretty sure that in Republican circles a "seal of approval" from Satan trumps a "less than hearty endorsement" from a neocon closet lesbian. Not positive, but pretty sure.

Couldn't you just move to some other dictatorship?
If you want to live your life in fear, that's great, but do you have to ruin things for the rest of us?

Actually, I was thinking that McCain's best pick would have been Condi Rice. Especially after Obama's Hillary-snubb. Rice is the ultimate Obama-slayer: She would steal a lot of the Hillary females, she would de-energize Obama's black base, plus she is better qualified than all of the other candidates put together.

However, Rice has zero charisma.

Also, she may not support letting rapists choose the mothers of their children. (Saw this on another thread.)

The GOP typically does more to empower rapists than victims.

Black voters have no affection for Condi. She was integral in dropping the ball on the 9/11 attacks. Full stop.

Her speech was written by someone else, for someone else. Reading someone else's work does not make them her own.

Doug from Canada says:
The fact that Chaney has endorsed Sarah Palin pretty much sums up everything an American voter needs to know. Instead of sailboats off the coast of California and Florida there will be oil derricks, and Palin with McCain will be dancing with their pompoms and batons on the airport tarmac as hundreds of thousands of drafted American children go off to war in many countries around the world.

A respectable woman would never accept an endorsement from Oil Can Cheney. Or be a member of a political party that is dangerous to our health and civil liberties.

I'm still in shock over 'throes of insurgency". If shotgun Cheney gave her an endorsement then it's DEAD WRONG as this administration has been sine 2001.

How could anyone consider 4 more years of Bush considering what has taken place? It's mind boggling.

How it must have pained him to assert that, in essence, he and Sarah Palin are equally qualified for the job! Truly too funny!
