ABC Interviews Palin's "Closest Friends," But Most Won't Say They're Voting For Her

Good Morning America convened a klatsch with four of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's "closest friends" for 15 years in the hopes that one of them might spill the beans on the press-shy vice-presidential contender and reveal that she is secretly having an affair with a book-banning polar bear or something. What they reveal, however, is that not all of them are likely to vote for their friend.

As it turns out, Palin's pals are a perfectly lovely quartet of women who hang out and exercise and eat chocolate, but the video is burning up the blogosphere because some of them are avowedly pro-choice -- in opposition to Palin -- and three of the four won't even say they're supporting her ticket.

This is supposed to reveal that the people who know Palin best won't vote for her, and so you'd have to be crazy to do so, but, honestly? I wouldn't vote for most of my friends, either, because they tend to be criminals or drunks or worse: bloggers. I'd expect my dear friends to oppose my own presidential ambitions on similar grounds.

More curious, frankly, is the revelation that Sarah Palin hates cats. This is not abnormal on its face, since it's perfectly reasonable to loathe anything that requires the permanent installation of a box full of feces in one's household. However, Palin may have a political reason for opposing cats. According to a letter sent to the Palm Beach Post, it seems that the residents of Talkeetna, Alaska - who the Wikipedia tells me is the inspiration for the fictional burg of Cicely, as depicted in the teevee show Northern Exposure - chose a cat named Stubbs as their official mayor. Stubbs has executive experience, hunts prey with his bare paws, and does not bilk the taxpayers of Alaska out of money for fake per diem expenses, like Palin does.

Stubbs the cat hangs out at Nagley's General Store in Talkeetna, with a bunch of other cats, all of whom have been thoroughly vetted, by actual veterinarians.

As the proud adopted human of four cats, I take umbrage at all the smears claiming that cats are republicans - my cats are democrats, one and all. And a couple of them have more executive experience than McPerky, so they are thinking about running for VP in 2012.

I loved the woman who said McPalin was "afraid" of her cat. If she can't handle a fluffy little kitten, how is she going to handle Putin??

I don't trust anyone who hates cats--- My experience with those people is that they usually have the same qualities that they project onto cats... sneaky for one.

I think they "know" (sense) that the cat's "get" them, see through them.

Along with a copy of whatever press release she put out, offering a bounty on every paw (that's right, I said paw) that was turned in. Despicable woman. I once worked for a defense contractor, and had a Top Secret clearance. My boss claimed to have been some sort of special ops guy in Viet Nam for the CIA, and supposedly had some high level CIA clearance. I was being interviewed by a government office for an additional clearance to do work with a highly classified project, and asked my boss about the strange questions I was being asked.

He said that the genesis of these questions is years of profile studies of people that tried to determine what their probability of being traitors was. One of the key tells was some sort of obsession with cats. It didn;t matter if one hated or one loved them, but if there was a strong emotion about cats, it indicated a higher probability of that person turning and committing treasonous acts.

Four smart women, They know Sarah and are going to vote on issues that are important to them, whereas some voters that are voting for Palin based on one introduction speech in a gym where her VP announcement were made.

ABC stooge Charlie Gibson has the first up-close, personal fluff piece on Palin so of course they're pimping her hard. It's all Sarah all the time on ABC. It's sickening. Those are her Friends?? I've never seen such an uncomfortable interview. I would hope that if I were running, my friends would have posters on the walls, caps, T-shirts and banners with my name on it. I don't agree with my friends on everything, but we are so close in what we believe that they would go all out to support me, I'm sure of that.

It's clear that these ladies know something about Palin that we don't know--yet. There was a complete lack of enthusiasm that I find a little disturbing. Have you had friends, like I have, who have asked you for job recommendations and you've felt like they've put you on the spot? That's how these ladies are acting to me. Once one of my friends I knew to have a drinking problem, asked for my recommendation to get a government top security clearance. I threw the form away. and told her why before agents came to interview me. I still love her, but I couldn't do it. I don't know what these Wasilla ladies are hiding, but it's clear there's something.

Way to go! I know how hard that must have been, but it's too serious to lie about. You may have been the better friend by telling her the truth that others may have avoided discussing with her.

Maybe that's what these women were trying to do. They want to remain her friends, but they didn't want to allow the press to use them as an endorsement because like Palin's mother-in-law, they know her and believe that someone like her should NOT have that kind of power.

Agrees. I have been involved in those checks. People lie, lie, lie even when they don't like the person being investigated. Go figure. I wish someone would do a PROFILE on McCain and tell us who he is. You know, examine the crime scene, evidence and what he has left behind? What would they turn up?
