Washington Independent blogger Spencer Ackerman, being of a different mettle than those who MSNBC's Joe Scarborough accuses of being "Cheeto eaters," is reporting this week from Afghanistan, where he has successfully surmounted bureaucratic obstacles and made his way from Kabul to Forward Operating Base Salerno in the province of Khost. You can read about his trip to FOB Salerno, here.

Spencer's ability to communicate stateside is obviously heavily circumscribed, but one person he has contacted today was Jezebel's Megan Carpentier. Interestingly, at the time, Ackerman related that the biggest threat he was facing at his destination was "not from al Qaeda or Taliban but from ... wolves." According to Carpentier, "packs of them" are "howling outside the media area."

This is noteworthy, because regardless of how one chooses to acknowledge or pooh-pooh Governor Sarah Palin's foreign policy expertise, she has a solid record of really taking the fight to wolves.

War torn areas do attract wolves, they feed on the dead and dying bodies, its been that way since forever. In the middle ages in europe during the 100 Years War wolves got the taste for humans and lost thier fear of humans and began attacking people.
And in America we have our own wolves...they are called Republicans, packs of them roaming America doing great damage to us all. (sorry couldn't resist that last dig)

She sure does bring the fight to the wolves. She has offered up bounties on forelegs of wolves that have been shot after being run down with helicopters. This to increase the Moose population so wealthy trophy hunters can shoot them. Nice huh? She is a real compassionate "Hockey Puck...I mean Mom". Not representative at all of women. Maybe the media should publisize this stuff, there are a lot of animal lovers out there!

You are talking about Palin's paying $150 for each wolf slaughtered, shot from low-flying airplanes? Since wolves have not impacted the moose and caribou populations, this is simply another example of what can happen when an unprepared politician is given a free hand - unjustified wolf massacres.

Palin is owner of a small business, mayor of a small town, governor of a state.....and you folks pretend Obama is more qualified than her to be president? And Obama has done what besides run for office? She at least has managed a real state, a real budget, fired real people, taken on corruption in both parties. Obama is the LEAST EXPERIENCED person on the tickets and that's one of the least important issues of this election.

The experience issue is a red herring on both sides. The question is one of policy and judgment. I trust Palins and I am opposed to Obama's. That's the issue. Obama is a PROGRESSIVE, a literal, a socialist. He wants to massively expand the government tax base and massively expand government. Sooner or later all that expansion means I pay more no matter what he says about cutting my taxes.

His foreign policy is predicated upon the "fact" that we have too much, are too well off, use too much of the worlds resources, do not "deserve" what we have, and must learn to live smaller lives and stop being the worlds good cop in order to "be loved". It's a recipe for failure, weakness, socialism, and a future that is smaller for our children. I am opposed to Obama's judgment and his philosophy of government. I could care less about the fact that he has less executive experience than a woman who runs one of our less populous states.

We're not pretending. She is. How in the world can you even begin to trust Palin's judgment when she is such an ignoramus on foreign and domestic policy issues that McCain's handlers won't let her get anywhere near the press... can you image McCain's pit boss demanding 'deference' from the media before allowing her to be interviewed. It's crap, friend.

Obama is head and shoulders above Palin in every category you might wish to choose. He was president of the Harvard Law Society while Sarah was giving hockey scores on TV. He has been on the foreign relations committee, Sarah had to lie to even make it to 3 countries she visited (no, the Shannon, Ireland airport doesn't count, Sarah).

You're misguided if you think Obama is about 'love' or that he is weak. You've seen the damage, the absolute carnage that Bush and his Rove like buddies have inflicted upon America... and yet you would vote for more of the same. Most strange.

You are the shining example of the problem with American education. You refuse to read and you make things up. Be careful when you read about Obama's experience? You might actually learn something:

Barack Obama is the Senator of Illinois; as such he has not only legislative experience, but also executive, managerial , decision making experience. In addition his campaign has been a reflection of his ability to be on the executive front, able to manage millions of dollars without going bankrupt. Furthermore, he was teaching constitutional law at University of Chicago, meaning he has judiciary knowledge. Barack Obama is an extremely well-rouded politician with experience in all three branches of government.

The ultimate insult Obama's a 'progressive' a literal (what does that mean by the way?) a 'socialist'. I am really warming to this guy. Pity I can't vote for him. Lets settle for a smaller future for all the world's children better than no future. Which is very likely with this fundamentalist crew of end of timers.

Is John McCain Mentally Qualified to be President if he is suffering from PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder)? He was a POW for nearly six years and his temperment is really bad. Does he get flashbacks? I am SCARED to have him making war decisions for our country. He may have a debt to payback. I thought you must be MENTALLY FIT to run our country. Why he have not released his Mental Health Records or his FULL Military Records? He MUST BE HIDING SOMETHING?

"I thought you must be MENTALLY FIT to run our country."

Dubya and Cheney have pretty well disproved that theory.

Bush and Cheney prove, unfortunately, that anyone can become president of the United States (and VP). Help us, God, let's see Obama win.

Case closed! Yet, people think having a pregnant teen daughter made Palin "one of us"! They didn't realize that Palin claimed 312 days (almost a year) for per diem allowance during her 19 months as governor, meaning she is being paid governor's salary to STAY AT HOME WITH HER CHILDREN! (Still, one daughter didn't learn to be abstinent!) Palin had the best of both worlds unlike people who think she is one of them! Poor people, they are taken for a ride voting against their interests again!

Yup Yup. Don't pick on the old, confused, fragile POW. And don't pick on the sweet, innocent girl.
(and while you're at it, please don't pay any attention to the fact that they are after the highest office in the land).

OK, I'll add zoology to the list...

Sarah Palin's Qualifications to be VP:
Geography - Alaska is close to Russia!
Geology - There's oil in Alaska!
Zoology - There are wolves in Alaska and there are wolves in foreign countries, too!
