Catfight

The Boston Globe:

WASHINGTON - Hillary Clinton is avoiding taking on Sarah Palin directly in Clinton's first public appearances since the Alaska governor exploded onto the national scene last week.

Campaigning for Barack Obama yesterday in the toss-up state of Florida, Clinton barely uttered Palin's name. In a small amendment to an old line, she said: "No way, no how, no McCain, no Palin."

At another point, after praising the Democratic ticket's proposals to help middle-class Americans on taxes, healthcare, and other economic issues, Clinton said: "I didn't see that from Senator McCain and Governor Palin. I saw more of the same."

I deeply resent the fact that the media is portraying white women for Palin's "surge" in the polls. We all know that it's nothing but right wing media lies. White women across American ought to speak up now and loudly protest what they're saying about us.

That's exactly why Clinton should not get into a cat fight with her. Clinton should just keep attacking McCain and add Palin's name as an after thought.

The most telling part of that report was when the Clinton rep said FIRST, "it's not in HIllary's best interests to...'

This tells me that Hillary is probably going to give the same amount of support to Obama that democats did when Ned Lamont won the democratic primary. Tepid at best. Non-existent at worst.

Hillary STILL wants to be prez and if she thinks she can sort of, kind of, maybe look like she is helping Obama and if he loses she can claim "Hey I tried but next time vote for me and we'll win".

Hillary is STILL pizzed at Obama winning the Dem primaries.

The bottom line is still that Hillary Clinton wants to be the first woman president and/or vice president in US history. Getting McCain/Palin elected does not meet the goal.

It is NOT in the best interest of Clinton to do B.O.'s dirty work.
B.O. style is to let his surrogates do the heavy lifting and do throw them under the bus if anything goes wrong: Rev. Wright, Clark etc. Didn't BO in His infinite wisdom already chose a vice?! There you go.

First of all, Obama didn't win, he was selected by the jelous supperdelegates who chose to forefeit the election rather then have another Clinton win it
After McCain landslide, the stupid suppers will realize that there is only one winner in the Deocratic party, and it is not called Mondale, Dukakis, Gore, Kerry or Obama
It Takes a clinton to win for the democrats

It is over for Hillary's presidential ambitions. Do you seriously believe that next time she were to put herself in the race, it would be a cakewalk for her? It would get real nasty. She would cause an irreperable damage to the party and her own reputation. She cannot win a second time, because then it would definitely devolve into a battle of the sexes very fast. That would practically fracture the party. Mark my words.

When two men are fighting (which we are so used to)...it's called "fighting".
But when two women are fighting..it's still rare...and degraded to being a "catfight".
So why don't we resort to the term "co ck fight" for men then.

Thank-you Hill ary for not "going there", it would take over the whole election news coverage.
Right now, the news is putting a spotlight on just who P alin really is and what she is for.
There would be too much over-ANALYSIS and over-coverage if Hill caved to the catfight.
My Go d...Larr y K ing would have would have a field day for chrissake!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hill is fighting back in a better way, you really see the contrast btwn herself and Palin.
Thank-God we have a woman like Hillary to remind America what a "real contender" looks like.
Obama and Biden are responsible to FIGHT hard- remember they are the ones who will be
facing enemies like Bin Laden...They are the ones who have to show they are capable...
AND they are doing a great job da mmit!!!!
Now get off Hillar y's back for crying out loud!!!!!!!!!!!!

I trust Obama. I trust that Hillary, Bill and Joe will all do their best to bring Obama to victory. Thanks Hillary, I going to your website to make a small donation, if it is not too late.

Did you see Obama's quick response to Bush announcement today? He is so good! He knows what he is doing!

I missed it! I hope they post the transcript. Good work and thank you for your comment. I couldn't agree with you more. I think all those relevant to the party will do their best to make this a Democratic victory.

Thank you Hillary for not "going there" in a catfight- which would take over this whole
election coverage and dwindle it down to just back and forth uselessness.
This way the reporters and news is hard at work trying keeping focusing on just who Palin
really is and is for..
There would be too much over -coverage and OVER-ANALYSIS of Hillary and ENDLESS
questions about it if Hillary were to 'Cave in" to the catfight.
My God, Larry K ing would cover it every night for the next couple months for chrissake!!!!
That's who's probably pushing this idea the hardest!!!!
Obama and Biden are responsible to FIGHT...Hillary IS fighting back in her own way.
Just listening to Hillary, you are aware of the contrast btwn herself and Palin...It's very obvious.
Thank-God we have Hillary out there to contrast what a "real female contender" looks like.
She's doing a DAMN fine job! And so is Obama....Now get OFF HER CASE!!!!

THANK-YOU HILLARY...WE LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hillary's record was vetted and she clearly has the credentials to be POTUS. She is also on the right side of women voters regarding Roe v. Wade. She's not going to attack an unknown and Hillary's not going to make up stuff either. Women will listen and will vote democratic as well.

Why should Hillary belittle herself and engage in a media orchestrated and backed cat fight? The media is underestimating Hillary. They have done so from the very beginning all while using the popular "sources inside the Clinton Camp said..." or "sources close to Clinton said..." Folks get over yourselves. She has too much dignity to get in the mud as you have done.

Why would it be a catfight? Because it involves two women? Ridiculous.

Again I ask: Would Clinton decline to take on Palin if she -- Clinton -- were the nominee instead of Obama?

Yes, normally, it's the VP who takes on the VP. (And I agree with whoever asked: Where is Joe Biden? What is he doing other than reminiscing fondly about his long friendship with McCain?) But, this is an unusual situation in which Palin outshines McCain and is being used to draw voters to McCain appearances and to his ticket that he wouldn't otherwise be getting.

So. Would Hillary take on Palin if Clinton were the nominee? What do you think?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:14 PM on 09/09/2008

I don't think McCain would have picked Palin if Hillary was the nominee. He probably would have picked a minority (much to the dismay of the die hard Repugs). He is pandering and trying to pick up whatever votes he thinks the Democrats lose.

My grandfather used to tell me, "if someone's intent on making an ass of himself, there's no need for you to get in his way." Palin is slowly self-destructing all by herself as her "record" emerges. There's no reason for Hillary to elevate her status by taking her on. Smart move...keep banging McSame on the issues.
