David Letterman's Global Warming Rant: "We Are Dead Meat" (VIDEO)

"We are dead meat," said David Letterman last night in the midst of a lengthy rant on global warming. He blamed a lack of leadership over the last several decades. He also said he didn't think that little steps like reusing party toothpicks or turning lawn clippings into mulch could possibly help.

I just kept picturing the "APPLAUSE" sign lighting up and the audience pushing out a laugh for something that wasn't. Personally I'm a Leno fan and the times I've watched Letterman he has me scratching my head wondering why people like him.

Thank you, David. You are right, of course. As dire as the predictions are; our politicians, our media and our citizens, continue to gape at the minutae of the moment, oblivious to the cataclysm barreling down upon us.

Call it a rant if you like, but those are dire statements made by Letterman. His audience didn't know how to respond and neither did Paul Shaffer. But, really, isn't it about time some people start standing up and saying things like this to the mindless mass that keep buying into the madness of the republican agenda? And if not Letterman, who? Pat Sajak? Leno? Kimmel?

I have to say - Letterman, although he presents a dry comedic style of pessimism, really had an urgent serious undertone to his monologue around the climate crisis.
