McCain Camp: Biden "Sunk To A New Low" On Stem Cell Research

John McCain's campaign hit back hard at Joe Biden Tuesday after the Democratic VP candidate appeared to suggest Republicans who do not support stem cell research -- like GOP VP candidate Sarah Palin -- are lacking in their support of children with disabilities.

"Barack Obama's running mate sunk to a new low today launching an offensive debate over who cares more about special needs children," McCain-Palin spokesman Ben Porritt said. "Playing politics with this issue is disturbing and indicative of a desperate campaign."

The sharp response, indicative of the increasingly heated rhetoric from both presidential campaigns as the election enters the final stretch, came shortly after Biden said advocates for people with disabilities should support stem cell research.

Biden is tired and long winded on the stump. He has never had to campaign for his senate seat and it showed this winter when he ran for president and got hardly enough votes to be elected dog catcher!

Biden is correct. The Bush administration asked People with disabilities to wait until researchers in other countries discover cures for life-threatening and or disabling diseases. American researchers are eight years behind their counterparts in medical innovations. If we let this continue, the rest of the world will be selling us cures the same way they sell us oil. Biden wants America to be first in innovations in health care and medical breakthroughs.

The people of Alaska may not want to support this kind of research in their smaller state Universities but the larger states want to bring these research jobs, new medical industries and health care services into their economies.

I think that Alaska is 50 years behind the rest of the nation in terms of education and innovation. There is no reason for the rest of the country to live in the 20th century mindset.
