Sarah Palin 'Bridge To Nowhere' Video Montage

Sarah Palin's stump speeches have largely stuck to the same script (what the AP describes as "a greatest hits of her convention speech). However, one line that constantly shows up is that Palin said "thanks, but no thanks, to that 'bridge to nowhere.'" Palin's claim of opposing the 'bridge to nowhere' has proven to be a stretch, yet she keeps repeating the same line. Watch Palin use this exact line in seven different stump speeches since the end of the Republican Convention.

Don't be distracted! The Republican Ticket is pulling a sleight of hand. They tell a half-truth about the Bridge and watch the people run with it and debate it into the ground.

Meanwhile, the Republican Administration has brought us to yesterday's announcement projecting a near-record federal budget deficit of $407 billion - $18 billion higher than White House projections six weeks ago! Earmarks comprised less than 1% of the Federal Budget in 2008.

The Bridge to Nowhere is a carefully designed distraction. While it's valid to call them on their lack of truth, we cannot afford to be distracted by this for too long. Let's forget about The Bridge to Nowhere and whether the Republican Vice Presidential nominee supported or opposed it and when. We already know the answer to that.

Let's talk about the war. Let's talk about The Republican Ticket's plan to stay in Iraq indefinitely.

Let's talk about our nation's 70% high school drop out rate and The Republican's cuts to education funding.

Let's talk about the federal deficit. Don't let the Republican Ticket focus our discussion on the gnat while ignoring the plague. It's about the record-deficit announced yesterday not the Bridge to Earmarks.

I was one of the speakers invited to participate in the Clinton's "Millenium on the Mall." I remember feeling so hopeful at their idea of building the "Bridge to the 21st Century." George Bush destroyed it in favor of the ultimate "Bridge to Nowhere." Eight years of lies, bloodshed, trampling on the American constitution and destruction of the Earth. And there is no doubt that Sarah Palin is an enthusiastic supporter of that kind of a dead end road.

It has not proven to be a "stretch"--it has proven to be a lie. A damn lie. And John McCain and Sarah Palin have proven to be a couple of damn liars.
