A Great American Tradition: Community Organizing
I hope that in seeking to achieve short term political gain, neither side will engage in degrading the long term American traditions that have sustained and so empowered our nation.
The media have an obligation to point out when a politician is lying about a matter of fact, but the right-wing attack machine has so cowed some of them you can almost hear them moo.
I hope that in seeking to achieve short term political gain, neither side will engage in degrading the long term American traditions that have sustained and so empowered our nation.
Everyone who sees this ad can see how dirty it is. If Obama wants Americans to respect him, he should react with the kind of anger -- controlled, but still palpable -- anyone would feel if somebody did this to them.
Palin as a mom symbol is important to discuss, but there's too much at stake to get lost again in the gender wars, no matter how validating it feels to have our opinions asked.

The issue serves as nothing more than a foil to intimate that Obama -- shown in the screen shot with a smarmy grin and his coat looking frumpy -- desires to sexualize the lives of young children.
I sincerely hope the Obama camp does not miss that they can make this idiotic non-story work for him by repeating the line over and over again.
If McCain or, even worse, Palin appoints the next several justices, their repressive, regressive worldview will shape our nation's future regardless of what the American electorate may decide in the future.
I bet they'll dispel all those horrible claims about her stand on reproductive rights, troopergate, intimidating staff, raising taxes and being called the Queen of Earmarks! They're really gonna clear the air. Right guys??
Palin quickly picked up the fallen standard of those Hillary voters who put "18 million cracks" in the glass ceiling. She didn't crack anything. John McCain helicoptered her to the roof, and they led her down the back stairs.
Palin and the circus she's brought to town is designed to distract the country from one big truth: the havoc that George Bush and the Republican Party have wrought, and that John McCain is committed to continuing.
People do not have the time, attention or inclination to take in and process units of complex information. If we learn nothing else from the influence of Karl Rove, let us at least learn this.
For all the ink and air time about to be lavished on Sarah Palin, this election won't be about her. Very few voters are going to cast their ballot for or against Sarah Palin.
Campaign journalists don't need to cover two sides to every lie; especially an outlandish gender card trick like this one.
