Elisabeth Hasselbeck Rips Michelle Obama At RNC: "Something To Hide"

"The View" co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck, the show's token conservative and an ardent supporter of John McCain, appeared at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul last week and spoke at an event honoring Cindy McCain. Given that "The View" is a necessary destination for the candidates and their wives this year, Hasselbeck felt qualified to explain the difference between Cindy McCain and Michelle Obama, though she avoided singling Obama out by name:

"Cindy came into our hair and makeup room, fresh as can be, and unlike another wife of a political candidate who shall remain nameless, she didn't come with a list of topics that we weren't allowed to touch. Nope, that's because she has nothing to hide."

I must give Barbara Walters credit today for reading Joe Biden's comments in their entirety after Elizabeth's attempts to make it seem as if Joe Biden would imply that Palin, as a woman, in the white house would be a step backwards for women versus the policies moving women backwards. I am now waiting for BW to ask Elizabeth to explain her comments regarding Michelle Obama and her visit to The View. Is it true or not ? If it is true that is fine if it is not then she should be called on the carpet for her comments.

Elizabeth's first day on The View was my last day watching The View. She is SO closed-minded and rude, it was simply impossible to watch without screaming at the TV. Who needs that every morning?

What was it McCain said on The View a day or two ago? He wants the Constitution interpreted "like the founding fathers did"? Guess you can give back your right as a woman to vote and Whoopi was correct about worrying about slavery...

Who's RESPONSIBLE for the mortgage problems? Phil Gramm penned the bill that brought you deregulation removing all oversight that allowed mortgages to be sold while traders made money... when the bottom dropped out, the average American is left holding the bag wondering how they'll make the mortgage payment--should be so lucky as to still have their house and income.

It's not about abortion or guns or lipstick or pigs... it's about distracting the public long enough to get 4 more yrs. Forget biases/prejudices you might have. Think about who pays for their wars. Afraid of "tax and spend"? We've had 8 years of "BORROW from China and SPEND in Iraq". And when you give them 4 more yrs. who do you think will pay for THAT?

Vote for REAL solutions to REAL problems faced by REAL Americans on a daily basis.

Nothing John McCain has said or done makes me think he has any plan EXCEPT to CONTINUE the BUSH policies.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck is a LIAR!!! I remember her saying the day after Michelle Obama was on 'The View' that she did not have a problem with the wives and that it was only fair to go after the Presidential Candidates and the WIVES were 'OFF LIMITS' WELL much to my dismay I see Elisabeth insinuating at the RNC luncheon that Michelle Obama has something to hide. I know I should not be surprised that a Republican says one thing and then does the complete opposite..­..Elisabet­h has NO INTEGRITY and has PERMANENTLY lost her CREDIBILITY with this 'VIEWER"
I also want to say that I too left several messages to 'View' producer Bill Geddie and then found out on air that he was a Republican so my complaints were probably disregarded. The View will never get rid of her becasue her fights with the other co-hosts get huge ratings which advertisers love!!!
LASTLY Michelle Obama is the picture of grace and talent and even though Elisabeth does not deserve to have such a confident and amazing first lady she's gonna have to get used to it and EAT HER WORDS!!!!!!

Elizabeth is entitled to her opinion.
I think it's the way she conveyed it that was , at least , very disappointing considering the 'truth' she would like us to believe about her is that she is a straight-talking woman, wife and mom who says what she thinks and is merely sharing the views of an average Republican on her show. The 'truth' is however, that she didn't do that. She sat through Michelle Obama's visit to 'The View' without airing the grievances she later felt compelled to at the Republican event.

It's not honest, it's not Christian. It's not the right thing to do. It's not how you would teach your kids to behave. It's not how good people behave.
Strangely, those are the very things that apparently Elizabeth holds dear to her heart. I think I have seen her cry about those very things on more than one occassion on the show.

That's the problem. And that's why people are so offended by her in this particular instance.

My Dear Irelandpeach, if you watched the video properly you would not agrue with me because all she said is "there are topics that Michelle gave to the View that would not be discussed". Right there and then you should be smart enough to understand that Michelle is hiding about the truth and she is not willing to tell them in national TV. The point is Elizabeth was mature enough to honor the list of topics that cannot be discuss. The outcry was because the truth came out and Michelle Obama looked bad after that because she looked like she was hiding something. That's why a lot of misinformed liberal people were angry that info came out. The truth is she and Barak are really hiding a lot of facts about them that the news media would not asked them because it would make them look bad.
I think you are smart enough to know that if the truth comes out Barak shouldn't even be running.

Hey Rannie, I did watch the video properly.
I think if you take the time to read my post properly you will find that I was not writing about the particular words Elizabeth used.It was the fact that she said it at all.
Rannie, it was not mature to do what she did.If you can watch that and see maturity then that may explain some of your opinions and why ours appear to differ.
In fact, in watching the video properly it can be noted that her manner is that of a teenage girl . Unfortunate.

It was interesting to hear the other things you had to say. I'm not sure how you have concluded that the outcry was due to Democrats being worried about how Michelle Obama would come off after Elizabeth made that comment.
Don't you think that if Barack and Michelle had things to 'hide' ,those things would have been aired around the clock on Fox for months now!!!??? Or dosen't that fit in with the weird conspiracy theory you just touched on in your post.

It's not up to the moderator to inform misinformed people. It is actually their own responsibilty to inform themselves. Perhaps if a few more Americans took on that responsibility , rather than getting the 'fast food' version from TV as their sole source of information, then you and I could both sleep better at night.

I watched that video and found nothing wrong in what Elisabeth said. Both Michelle and Barack Obama do limit the questions (on many shows) as to what can and cannot be asked. It's funny how so many of his supporters are whining about commentators like Sean Hannity and Lou Dobbs because they bring out information that otherwise would never have come to light. There are still many questions about Obama's past that we have yet to learn. He's told too many lies about his connections, his family's past and his record of service in Chicago. The truth is he made no improvements to the South side of Chicago. It was and continues to be riddled with violence, poverty and extreme corruption. Just like so many other large US cities. Let's not pretend that this election isn't be bought by Ted Kennedy, Oprah Winfrey, Warren Buffet, George Soros and a number of super wealthy people here in America and abroad. When will Americans wake and see this man for who he truly is?!! He is a very dangerous radical who will bring about the demise of the US and allow her to be overtaken by its enemies. Read this Ms. Hesselbeck: Cindy met John as a married man with 3 children. Yep. Honorable John dropped his wife like a hot potato when he hooked up with this blond bimbo heiress who was half his age. How did Honest John play into this? He wrote letters on behalf of Keating and was later censored by the judiciary committee investigating the affair. He showed then, as now, questionable judgement. The difference between the cultured Michelle and the crass Elizabeth is profound. Michelle is cultured, bright, never raises her voice, speaks adult language without being catty all the time, and actually makes sense. On the other hand, talking with Elizabeth always ends up in a screaming match because no way can Elizabeth discuss stuff in a clam and dignified way. I am always scratching my head and wondering why in the world Barbara hired someone like Elizabeth and then it comes to me.
