Elisabeth Hasselbeck Rips Michelle Obama At RNC: "Something To Hide"

"The View" co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck, the show's token conservative and an ardent supporter of John McCain, appeared at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul last week and spoke at an event honoring Cindy McCain. Given that "The View" is a necessary destination for the candidates and their wives this year, Hasselbeck felt qualified to explain the difference between Cindy McCain and Michelle Obama, though she avoided singling Obama out by name:

"Cindy came into our hair and makeup room, fresh as can be, and unlike another wife of a political candidate who shall remain nameless, she didn't come with a list of topics that we weren't allowed to touch. Nope, that's because she has nothing to hide."

I am outraged that nobody on The View challenged Elizabeth on her comment. They know about it because Larry King ask Joy about Elizabeth's comment and on other blogs, people said they went to The View's website asking them to ask Elizabeth to explain her comment. As of this date, no reply. I think everyone should go to the views website and ask them to ask Elizabeth to explain her comment and watch how she reacts. Elisabeth Hasselbeck has got to be one of the most naive outspoken people ever seen on TV. At least Michelle Obama requested not to speak about certain topics before the show, unlike Cindy McCain who refused to talk about the number of homes she and her husband own on camera (it is said to be 9 in total). Cindy claimed that the topic was not an issue of the campaign (the topic did become an issue on McCain's perspective about the economic crisis the US is now facing). A person who can't remember just how many homes he owns appears to be out of touch with those who are lossing their homes.
Constainly, Elisabeth is on the defensive about her narrow minded comments. Like being stuck on Rev. Wright, as if he was Obama's adopted parent. Over and over she appears to be dense and unable to grasp reality. Her judgements always seem to be based upon statistical propaganda rather than fact or reality. She is truly not entertaining, it is obvious her part is to be an "Antagonist". Yet in her Antagonistic role most of the time her arguments are just plain old ridiculous. If Elisabeth did not have money she would be even more lost. Reality show star, wife of a Pro Athlete, and Co-Host on the View, without the fame and money poor Elisabeth would be another boring no-body with a distorted opinion.

Or John, who flat out LIED on the show more than once. He said Palin never took any earmarks as Governor and that's been pointed at as a BIG FAT LIE by all the media.

Pathetic Palin doesn't even understand what earmarks are... as if one is better than the other... earmarks are necessarily a bad thing -- they are funds to help programs. What McCain is doing when he badmouths them is just another Republican trick (like using abortion/guns/gays to rile up their base when in fact, they could care less about "winning" THOSE issues because when they do, they can't use themto sway another election)

Palin doesn't even understand what Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac does. Or what an entitlement is. Or the underpinning of Bush's moronic stance about "fighting terrorism" pre-emptively. She's on video asking what a VP does -- just a month ago.

Any woman who votes forMcCain because of Palin should ask herself WHAT she's voting for. Is it earmarks? Is it abortion? Is it creationism? Is it smaller government? (Bush GREW the govt) Is is less taxes? (sorry, unless you make over $200K, you won't get much of a cut from mcCain). Is it just because she has ovaries? Or is it something sadder and deeper? I don't think they need to muzzle her at all. It's kind of validating watching her. I'm not a big fan of stereo-typing people, but she fits the "typical Fox model" of republican talking heads. Listening to Elisabeth and people like her makes a lot of people feel better about being democrats. She is a representative of those view points and severe lack of intelligence. For all of her bluster, she's actually quite the coward. Watching clips of her when Michelle Obama was on, she would not have had the nerve or the guts to say what she said behind her back to her face.

Just put it in perspective...this is the girl who showed a picture of herself snuggling up to George W Bush and actually said "I wish I could blow this up and make wallpaper out of it."

I have given Elizabeth Hasselbeck alot of thought. Being the raging conservative has given her an identity. She gets invites to the Bush White House, she goes on fox's Hannity and Combs, gets invited to Republican luncheons. She has likely met Karl Rove and is admired in conservative circles for her attacks on Obama and Democrats. She is very fortunate that she gets to sprew her special brand of hate, to the morning mostly female audience, basically unchallenged. I find her repugnant and irritating in ways that are too numerous to mention. With that said, whenever she gets on my nerves, I e-mail a complaint to ABC.com, If I don't see any improvements I will start complaining to sponsers.

Hasselbeck is such a child. She hasn't lived. She makes me physically sick. Everytime she openes she mouth, I mute the television. She is small brained. She acts like a mean catty high school brat. What's that's suppose to mean, when she said at this RNC luncheon , "unlike another wife of a political candidate who shall remain nameless, ..Cindy McCain has nothing to hide". See, nothing about issues, nothing intelligent. That was uncalled for. Why doesn't anything constructive and enlightened come out of her mouth like the last eight years, our standing in the world, health care, and how everyone I know including non-rich Republican women in my state want affordable health care, Obama's plan for service to our country , with new programs beyond the Peace Corp". You said it all! I believe the only reason Barbara Walters keeps Elisabeth Hasselbeck on her show is for the ratings and the money! It was so obvious from watching the View on 9/12/08 that Elisabeth is the only repulbican amongst the group. She does not know how to have an open discussion in appropriate manner. Did anyone notice that McCain never gave an answer (because the subject was changed) as to whether or not he believes a woman has the right to have an abortion? I can't believe none of the women asked him about owning 7 houses! They asked his wife, but not hime. Even worse - and here I give her credit - this is something that no one can address to clear their name (assuming she meant Michelle Obama, neither Michelle nor the Obama campaign can engage in controverting this statement, because it will look like poor form, the conservatives' answer being - Mrs Obama wasn't named so why does she think it was her, because she does have something to hide?) nor can Elizabeth be taken to task by anybody for the same reason. I also agree with another poster - this is such catty high school behavior, it makes me sick. Elizabeth is very passive aggressive, she absolutely can't take any direct engagement in the dialog, she never says "I think, I believe" or whatever. It's always "some people who have values" or "some people feel very patriotic", etc., like she always has to summon some one else's support.
only the viewers can rectify this by demanding that "the view" clarifies this info for us - Elizabeth did not speak at the RNC luncheon as a private person but as a hostess of a TV show and she referenced a media appearance, so why doesn't the media outlet take responsibility?
