The Washington Post has an article today on the repeated lies and lack of accountability in the presidential race:

From the moment Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin declared that she had opposed the infamous "Bridge to Nowhere," critics, the news media and nonpartisan fact checkers have called it a fabrication or, at best, a half-truth. But yesterday in Lebanon, Ohio, and again in Lancaster, Pa., she crossed that bridge again.

"I told Congress: 'Thanks but no thanks for that Bridge to Nowhere up in Alaska,' " Palin told the crowds at the "McCain Street USA" rallies. "If we wanted a bridge, we'll build it ourselves."

The New York Times looks into how Obama's lipstick line was taken out of context:

A new character is making a debut at Senator Barack Obama's campaign rallies: His name is John McCain.

It began quietly on Monday in Michigan, but grew in volume as Mr. Obama made his way from Flint to Farmington Hills, carrying over to a speech on Tuesday morning in Ohio. By the time he arrived for an evening stop in the southwestern tip of Virginia, Mr. Obama's sales pitch contained nearly as many references to Senator McCain as to himself, suggesting how the McCain campaign has been driving the recent dialogue of the presidential race.

"John McCain says he's about change, too -- except for economic policy, health care policy, tax policy, education policy, foreign policy and Karl Rove-style politics," Mr. Obama told his supporters here. "That's just calling the same thing something different."

With a laugh, he added: "You can put lipstick on a pig; it's still a pig. You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change; it's still going to stink after eight years."

In the latest sign of the campaign's heightened intensity, Mr. McCain's surrogates responded within minutes and called on Mr. Obama to apologize to Gov. Sarah Palin for the lipstick remark. But to those in the audience, it was clear that Mr. Obama was employing an age-old phrase -- lipstick on a pig -- and referring to Mr. McCain's policies. He had not yet mentioned Ms. Palin at that point of his speech.

Here's a list of more news sources that are calling foul on McCain's campaign tactics:

The New Republic...
Mark Halperin... EJ Dionne... McClatchy Papers... Joe Klein... CBS... ABC's Jake Tapper... Andrew Sullivan... MSNBC...
Paul Begala...
AP... David Corn... Atlanta Journal Constitution... Glenn Grenwald... Taylor Marsh... Chicago Tribune... Slate...
Politico's Jonathan Martin...
Ruth Marcus...The American Prospect... Ari Melber...

McCain is barely on the campaign trail. Must be health related. There is more advertising, press of Palin which are distraction tactics. Really there are more articles than actual work being done by this candidate, trying to run down the days until the election, it will not work for long. The media is turning on him.

I found this on another website. It is awful. Please read.
Obama Waffles’ featuring racist, stereotyped images . This is disgusting
Obama Waffles’ featuring racist, stereotyped images sold at Values Voter Summit.»
At the Values Voter Summit this weekend, vendors sold an item called “Obama Waffles” featuring a racist cartoon of Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) on the box front — with “popping eyes and big, thick lips” — and another image of him wearing an Arab-like headdress on its top flap. Its creators, Mark Whitlock and Bob DeMoss, said it was meant as “political satire,” and sold the box for $10 from a booth at the Family Research Council event. CNN’s Lou Dobbs stopped by the booth and exclaimed, “My wife will love this!” A photo shows Dobbs with a box of the mix in his hand.

UPDATE: American News Project interviewed the creators, who said they were just “having a little fun during the election season,” and denied that the box was racist or offensive. Watch it:

For a brief moment in time....I was very scared that the press...the people...whom ever ....did not see the wool being pulled over their eyes...but the tone of the media is outrage at being told not to be reporters.
Thank God.....the press is finally doing their job...which is to fight back...to force the questions down the throats of the politicians and pundits till the spit up the answers..

Watch this guy on the PBS "Now" show from last night. This guy Drew Westin articulates what Obama needs to do immediately. The part about "Made in America" made my hair stand on end. It is a must watch: http://www.pbs.org/now/shows/436/video-seg1.html

At long last the MSM are confronting McCain about his many lies. However, they do not go far enough.

McCain didn't just start lying when he started running against Barack Obama for President. McCain was one of the principle cheerleaders in the run-up to the War against Iraq, but pretty much everything he said as to why we really, really needed to invade and conquer was also a lie. The war in Iraq has been absolutely horrific for the people who live there, and very costly to America as well. I understand that most Americans are only opposed to that war so long as it is perceived as being too expensive in lives and treasure, and not because of the injustice of it, but for whatever reasons they are still opposed to the war.

Therefore, I am in favor of confronting Sen. McCain over the many lies he told in the run-up to and after the invasion of Iraq.

And while they are at it, would someone in the MSM please confront McCain about that insane "Bomb, bomb, bomb Iran" rant he made a few months ago? That scared the hell out of me, as I hope it did every other sane member of the human race.

correction palin is not even for God - she needs to brush up on her religion namely
exodus - 20:1-17
Thou shall not give false testimony - translation thou shall not lie!
Jesus Christ does not demand us to follow him he gives us a choice -
she lied about iraq! she lied about earmarks? she lies when she says she is ready to be vp! what else is she lieing about ? her son? her daughter ? testimony in the investigation?
why was she a member of the alaska independent party? and is that anti american ? no i forgot she is white and a republican so that does not count.
the hypocrisy of the media! is this the same media who played rev wrights soundbites 24/7 but will not report that sarah palin belong to an anti-american separatist party. the media allows rush limbaugh, sean hannity and o'reilly intimidate them, these men are racist, cowards - who pretend to be christian men, how sad! the media needs to get on it's job, the people are tired of the rhectoric and the parroting of mccain and his karl rove style croonies! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH !

The scandalous campaigning of the republicans is the same tact that won them the 2000 and 2004 elections. Draw the attention away from the true issues and resort to lying and mudslinging. The feel that the majority of the american people are ignorant uninformed sheep and use these tactics without any remorse to attain their goal of winning the office. It sickens me that they are proven this campaign strategy is true.

I was an independent, not now. I’m tired of the McCain / Palin act already. We’ve endured 8 years of deceit and it’s time for an overhaul. McCain started out as well meaning and honorable but has evolved to disgraceful and dishonorable.

He bypassed many worthy and capable women to choose Sarah Palin. She appears to be very smart and likeable however I have zero confidence in her. Her mode of operation is to emerge as knowledgeable and above reproach, she is neither. Her best decision would have been to decline the offer of being the VP. She brings a lot baggage, deceit, inexperience and many questions about her.

It’s appalling that Republicans across the nation are praising Sarah and showing massive approval without a sound reason. Is McCain / Palin all you have? Bush/Chaney looks palatable.

McCain / Palin operate under the “Nine Commandments”. “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor” has been deleted from their hearts and campaign. My vote is for Obama/Biden 2008.

Unfortunately, this has become the style of campaigns the Republicans use. IN this election, they cannot afford to address the issues because their standard bearer (Bush) has had the most disasterous administration in the history of this Country, so they have to divert attention from the issues and attack other things like character and lipstick on pigs. Obama can beat them simply by attacking the lies and forcing them to discuss the issues and records. They can't escape that when the press interviews both of them and especially during the debates. THAT will show them up for what they are for the nation to see.
