UPDATE BELOW: PALIN RESPONDS

Actor Matt Damon spoke out on the Republicans' choice of hockey-mom Sarah Palin for VP. Damon compares her rise to a 'really bad Disney movie' and says it's absurd that this woman could become President.

"I think there's a really good chance Sarah Palin could become president, and I think that's a really scary thing... I think the pick was made for political purposes... Do the actuary tables and there's a one out of three chance, if not more, that McCain doesn't survive his first term and it'll be President Palin... It's like a really bad Disney movie. The hockey mom, you know, 'oh, I'm just a hockey mom'... and she's facing down President Putin... It's totally absurd... it's a really terrifying possibility... I need to know if she really think that dinosaurs were here 4,000 years ago. I want to know that, I really do. Because she's gonna have the nuclear codes.
UPDATE: PALIN CAMP RESPONDS:
Maria Comella, a spokeswoman for Palin, called the comments "name-calling."

"It's not surprising that the Barack Obama and his celebrity supporters continue to tear down Governor Palin with little more than blatant name-calling," she said. "It's clear they're threatened by a candidate who actually has a record of achieving reform and change, while Barack Obama just talks about it."

WATCH DAMON'S WHOLE STATEMENT:

I love how he thinks Palin lacks credibility, when he's a Hollywood actor.
A TOTALLY credible occupation!

Are you serious? See above.

I see some of these responses and think they are just tweaking us. That statement is so overboard ignorant that it is a waste of energy to refute it.

republicans delight in sounding and acting stu pid. republicans seem to think that it's bad to be smart and well-spoken and educated.

well, after 8 years with a towel snapping, c-student cheerleader, i am voting for the SMART guy. no more presidents who are proud that they were at the bottom of their class. i for one WANT the president to not only think he's better than me, but ACTUALLY IS. i do not want to be smarter than my president. i don't want to have a beer with him. i don't want to have him crack jokes about the non existent wmd that our children are DYING for.

go ahead righties and keep bashing the people with brains. if we get a mccain/palin administration rammed down our throats, the fallout will make the bush cheney years seem sweet and nostalgic. i don't understand the delight taken in watching your country slide down the toilet and then calling back the same plumbers who caused the problems in the first place. makes no sense. meanwhile mccain continues to build his campaign on OUTRIGHT LIES, the truth be damned. i guess that's the "country first" part, right??????

well the "smart guy" certainly isn't Cambridge rich boy Matt Damon. These people hurt Obama, not help him.

McCain would put the whole nation in danger to get what he wants.

Maybe the USA does not deserve someone from the Top of the Class !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, wake up from your fantasy land, Matt, and smell the coffee because that's just the way it is here in the good ol' U.S. of A. Palin a choice made for political reasons? Go figure! And what about Biden? You and Ben Affleck must share the same brain.

I have to tell you, though, Matt, I gave you more credit than this. This latest outburst of yours displays a total lack of class.

America is ready for a woman president, but Palin is not qualified. No man with her credentials would EVER have been selected as McCain's running mate - she has no substantive credentials, but is really only window-dressing to pander to the right wing, so-called conservatives who do not or cannot think.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:08 PM on 09/14/2008

So according to your theory... no man with Obama's credentials would EVER be selected as a Presidential candidate- since he has no substantive credentials.

But I guess 1+1 don't equal 2 in your fantasy world.

Matt thinks all presidents must be "Hah"-vard graduates. In a pich, a Yale guy will do. But never, ever, a woman.

Go - Yale!!!
you know most presidents since 1897 have gone to college - all but Truman I think.

But, I'm glad to see we're going backwards! Glad to see someone is endorsing the dumbing down of America! The aim of all thinking monarchs.

Did you know George W Bush went to Yale and Harvard? Clinton and George H only went to Yale, as did Ford and Taft. Kennedy went Harvard - the Roosevelts (both), Hayes, and both Adamses. Total 7. Yale drew only 5. And William & Mary was popular in the beginning with the first George W and 3 others.

I'm still proud to say mother graduated Yale in 1941. Because she was a woman. Go Yale!

How many trolls on this site can say for certain that Sarah Palin doesn't think the world is older than 4000 years old or that dinasours didn't live her 4000 years ago. This woman is a fundamentalist Assembly of God Pentecostal and chances are she doesn't believe in evolution. Also her educational background is so slight. She got a journalism degree after attending 6 colleges in 5 years. People study years to master the knowledge and skill to do world diplomacy and her claim to fame is that she's a hockey mom. Matt Damon is right. This whole thing is like a nightmare and she is a bad dream. Anyone who would chance having her become President after so little time and vetting doesn't give a damn about this country and is unpatriotic in my book.

At least we've spent the last two years getting to know Obama and what he is about. He's been battle tested on the campaign trail and we know how he comports himself. We know he's highly educated and knowledgeable and would know what the Bush Doctrine is or the fact that Georgia actually attacked South Ossetia first and provoked Russia's response.

(sarcasm mode:on)if matt damon is against palin that's good enough for me.(sarcasm mode:off) he sites her governance of less than 2 years when he endorsed obama before obama was even in the u.s. senate.

not for nothing here but why should i care what matt damon or anyone in his crowd think(s)? my 7 year old son is more lucid than these boobs.

of course i could be wrong.

but Obama was in the state senate before he was in the US senate.. where did you think they found Obama? at the hockey rink?

So State Senate is enough experience but State Governorship isn't? Hmmm think you should look into which has more responsibilities...

I'm packin' my saddlebags and getting ready for the "big one." Armageddon wil definitely take place this January if McCain/Salin are elected. The self-fulfilling prophecy Pentecostals preach every weekend. I'm taking some long undies because I hear Alaska (our final frontier - safe haven) is just a little chilly in the winter.

So, Professor Damon, when will you be publishing your dissertation on the plethora of wordly experience that the Obama camp holds? I can't wait to read it wise one.

Do your own research and find out the truth. Moosepatty has no experience. Like a deer in the head lights. Republican nutjobs only get their info from GOVERNMENT MSM.

Huffpost are you sensoring now? You seem to want to be selective in the post you allow to go through.

She wasn't talking to YOU, Katlog. So if you're going to respond to her question on Damon's behalf, do so with at least some semblance of substance. As for the rest of your nonsense, I'm just letting you know that I don't take kindly to it.

Yeah, he's right. And Palin Fever is sweeping the country. As it stands today -- she mostly likely will be only heartbeat away from the nuclear codes. And OUR lives and OUR children's lives along with the entire planet will be in Sarah's little trigger happy hands. "Yup. Yup." Karl Rove has done it again!
