UPDATE BELOW: PALIN RESPONDS

Actor Matt Damon spoke out on the Republicans' choice of hockey-mom Sarah Palin for VP. Damon compares her rise to a 'really bad Disney movie' and says it's absurd that this woman could become President.

"I think there's a really good chance Sarah Palin could become president, and I think that's a really scary thing... I think the pick was made for political purposes... Do the actuary tables and there's a one out of three chance, if not more, that McCain doesn't survive his first term and it'll be President Palin... It's like a really bad Disney movie. The hockey mom, you know, 'oh, I'm just a hockey mom'... and she's facing down President Putin... It's totally absurd... it's a really terrifying possibility... I need to know if she really think that dinosaurs were here 4,000 years ago. I want to know that, I really do. Because she's gonna have the nuclear codes.
UPDATE: PALIN CAMP RESPONDS:
Maria Comella, a spokeswoman for Palin, called the comments "name-calling."

"It's not surprising that the Barack Obama and his celebrity supporters continue to tear down Governor Palin with little more than blatant name-calling," she said. "It's clear they're threatened by a candidate who actually has a record of achieving reform and change, while Barack Obama just talks about it."

Matt I couldn't agree more! Whenever I see the two of them together, I just shake my head in disbelief.

McCain can't keep a straight face when she's talking. He's always rolling his eyes and raising his eyebrows when the 'stuff' comes out of her mouth.

John McCain has also stated that just because you are a Mayor or Governor does not make you qualified to be president. A little of a contradiction, I would say. But again, his whole campaign is based on contradictions and lies.

Cuddles 99: Hey Matt... Talk about ironic and talk about a bad Disney Movie plot... A Cambridge boy goes to Hollywood, writes and acts in a movie, wins an Oscar, makes more movies, tons of money, tons of fans... Then starts to believe his political opinion really means something... sigh

Hey Cuddles and the rest of you authoritarian neocons. Guess what? Matt Damon's opinion means as much as any other AMERICAN CITIZEN!! Only brainwashed suckers like you think his job as an actor and his success in the industry make him unqualified to speak against your lying masters.

Why can't he voice his opinion about this insult to the American people. That is what we all do, voice our opinion. Don't be jealous, just because his life is more comfortable than ours, makes no difference, he is an American. He seem like a very decent guy. He has just as much right to voice his opinion as anyone of us.

1.) She's ruled over a population not much bigger than MILWAUKEE!
2.) She likes to ban books. CENSORSHIP
3.) Has people in high places fired because they don't get along with her family
4.) Put her region in a deficit over 22 million that was balanced before her term
5.) Claims to be very religious, yet doesn't know her own bible.
6.) HAS NO EXPERIENCE WITH FOREIGN MATTERS.

We are in a WAR people, and she has no experience!!

Memo to Damon: stop talking!

but you see, that is the beauty of it. He can keep talking if he wants to because there is something called the first amendment. Maybe you have heard of it?

The Dixie Chicks are still successful, they just aren't tied down to a bunch of Nashville s**t-kickers anymore.
I like how you rattle off Matt's award winning success like it's a bad thing. Very novel approach to character attack.
He doesn't have to shut up. If you don't like it, it's up to you to change the channel and don't listen. That's America. Sorry you have a problem with our Bill of Rights. At least McPalin will try to thin it out if they get elected.

Hollywood actors and actresses the one who likes to criticize other people that tells you they have no brain at all. For instance like Matt Damon who criticizes Sarah.

Why McCain will be our next President:

1. Obama's inability to connect with middle america (cling to guns and bible quote...major gaffe)
2. Obama's lack of any backbone
3. Obama's "philosophizing" ....he's a mental masturbator come on...143 "present votes"? For God's sake, please make a decision.
3. Should have picked Hillary
...and the closing factors...
4. Nancy Pelosi ("Abortion is still up to interpretation among Catholic Church"..ooops!...Polling numbers now show Catholics in overhwhelming favor of McCain)
5. Harry Reid ("the war is lost"...ooops! Americans are WINNERS, we don't like weak politicians)

Yea, what does your response have to do with Mr. Damon's response to Palin. Unless you have your eyes tightly shut, own seven or more homes, have a wife or girfriend who owns a huge amount of money, avoids the issues, creates deception and is a bad, very bad Disney movie. What have you learned about the last seven years plus? I just hope Mr. Damon makes more movies based on the character Bourne. In doing those movies, I would say that he has more foregin experience than Palin.

I like how your list is five inaccurate statements about the opposition. Not a single statement about anything good about McCain in your list of why he'll win. Don't feel bad though - I can't think of any either.

Mediocrity rules!
McCain's contribution to dumbing America down by picking Palin.
And the rest of the world laughs.

This women isn't qualified, and what is so sad is that there are other well-educated women out there who are better qualified, but McCain picks this one just for the votes.
She will be cast aside, and someone else will be chosen to do her work(Hopefully).

Irregardless of what "toys" he has available to him, the man speaks the truth. Don't hate the messenger if the message is on point. Sarah Palin sounds just like George Bush in the heyday of the Iraq War: her cheerleading credentials are as vibrant as ever and she is truly arrogant if she feels that she's got the moxie to lead this diverse, complex nation. She is a one note politician that has shown zero ability to connect with all of the people of the country she purports to represent. There has been enough in the press recently to give pause to any right minded voter who would cast a ballot for her: does she sympathize with secessionism for Alaska? Would she abuse her power as vice president? What is her real agenda on church and state? What place does she give to diplomacy in dealing with other nations? John McCain should be ashamed of himself for shifting the national conversation at this critical time to this idiotic reality show wanna be. Country first my eye, this man has lost most of my respect for not thinking about his country first and instead showing that it's all about winning for him and at any cost! The thought of America under this put together, patchwork duo is a chilling and frightening place that if we are not careful, will be exactly what we will wake up to see!

I agree with a lot of what you say about S.P. (only a fool could actually believe she is experienced enough to be president!), but I think you're wrong when you say she has "zero ability to connect" with people of this country. Perhaps she isn't connecting to everybody, but she has certainly done her share to help McC.

Just as an FYI (not meant to be catty, just helpful when you post in the future), there is no word "irregardless." It's "regardless" -- regardless of the sentence.

Thanks for the grammar lesson--I've made that mistake before, but to your other point, my statement was zero ability to connect with ALL of the people of the country she purports to represent and while I agree she has energized John McCain's campaign and caused a certain population subset to give McCain a second look, I stand by my original statement that she has not connected with all of the people of this country particularly those who may, as an example, have benefited from the hard work of community organizers where they live. For these people, of which I am one, she immediately distinquished herself with her hateful VP acceptance speech as someone with little regard for civil rights and the plight of the less socioeconomically advantaged.

And further, what does it say about McCain that he would play Russian Roulette with our futures this way? We've already had 8 years of lies and abuses of power. The McCain/Palin ticket are just more of the same.

It always amuses me when someone writes that so and so isn't qualified to tell them how to vote when their post usually is telling someone how to vote. In this country, everyone is entitled to their vote and their opinion, including celebrities. The fact that they are famous in the first place is the reason they have a broader platform than the average person posting here. The fact that they are famous for something doesn't make their opinion righter or wronger, it just makes it written about or blogged about or talked about. It doesn't mean that they are telling you what to do or think. It means that they are telling you what THEY think. If you don't want to know the stuff then don't read articles about them. It's the person being interviewed, not the character that they play. Actually, if you think about it, it is brave for them to put forth their opinions and be open to the ridicule from anonymous blog bravado types who feel the need to tell you the right way to base your opinion is to listen only to them while slamming an opinion that is obviously different from their own.
