The Hill reports:

John McCain's daughter Meghan is not taking offense to Barack Obama's "lipstick on a pig" line like the rest of her father's campaign, pointing out Wednesday morning that GOP presidential nominee has been known to use the phrase.

"I've heard my dad say that, the term 'lipstick on a pig,'" McCain said during an appearance on Fox promoting her new children's book about her father.

Asked directly if she thought Obama was calling Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) a pig, McCain said, "I don't know. I hope not. I mean, I hope not, but I have no idea."

I cannot for the life of me believe that this is something worth talking about. Talk about childish, juvenile, and insulting. You take one of the oldest cliches in the world, something that they have said numerous times, and try to turn it in to a scandal. Only in America would people go apeshit over something this incredibly stupid.

Of course this is what they are talking about,...do you know what would happen if they started talking about the issues?

Not only is it about false outrage, but I just saw a congresswoman on MSNBC try to pit women against men by bringing up 'Obama's pattern of insulting women.' What pattern?! Thank God the reporter called her on it for once. The culture wars are getting out of control. I cannot believe people want to go back to us verses them in our own country! We are all in this together. I choose a positive message over a negative message. So should everyone else. I don't want a president who manipulates his way to white house.

False outage is what the Republicans do best.

If only they could spend 10% as much really looking at the Bush adminstration

Don't forget, the MSM LOVES to start a catfight! Don't forget their role in this. (Not to excuse the McCain campaign)!

Considering Palin herself implied she's a pit bull with lipstick, why should it be a problem if she's implied to be a pig with lipstick? Pigs are intelligent, affectionate animals and they don't have a reputation, undeserved or not, for mauling children.

freedog:
obviously you have not heard the tape yet of Mcsame calling Hillary a pig then last year when he used the EXACT same expression regarding her health care policy.

At least she told the truth... or should I say the Mc camp didn't get to her soon enough. I'm sure FAUX news was not too happy with the response.

It's laughable that he tried to squirm his way out of what was an obvious attempt to smear Governor Palin with his lipstick remark. Why did the Huffington Post run it as a headline on your site after he said it? He understood the implication and so do all of us. All the talking heads and campaign managers can try to wiggle out of this but the damage is done.

For a campaign that has been run almost flawlessly, we see that when the going gets tough, the Ocampaign shrivels. Weak.

And yet for all the lying, fussing, whining and complaining the GOP does, the electoral map hasn't changed in months.

So was McCain referring to H ilalry when he said it? Get it straight. And, if P alin is so tough, why is this such a BFD???

It's an old expression, one that both candidates have used throughout the campaign. And the context was clear: he was referring to McCain's policies being the same as Bush's. It's "an obvious attempt to smear Governor Palin" only if you've decided that she owns all rights to lipstick references because she's a woman. How sexist.

Reading is beyond most trolls. Even the ones that can actually read have blinders on, so only see what they want to see.

Ok, it is nice to hear her not using the party line that Obama was insulting Palin. I think she does know that Obama was not referring to her, and should have said so; however, who can blame her for not wanting to earn her father's scorn.

Okay media, so just go ahead and tell us and every other man that we shall never utter the word lipstick again. Apparently, the McCain-Palin ticket now own rights to the word.

Last October, asked about Sen. Hillary Clinton's health care plan, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., was blunt. McCain said Clinton's proposal was "eerily" similar to the ill-fated plan she devised in 1993.

"I think they put some lipstick on a pig," he said, "but it's still a pig."A common expression, right? McCain surely wasn't calling Clinton a pig.

After all, McCain's former press secretary, Torie Clarke, wrote a book called "Lipstick on a Pig: Winning in the No-Spin Era." Elizabeth Edwards told some health journalists that McCain's health care plan was like "painting lipstick on a pig."

He said, 'There are much more educated conversations we could be having about the ticket'

he said THAT?

the man is pricless

for heaven's sake, Obama, stop making like the law professor and start with some killer instinct. You can be sane and sorted and thoughtful in January....

get out there and ask McCain WHAT other educated conversations you could be having?

about his support for equal pay for women,

about his anti-choice decisions

about healthcare

about the GI bill

get out and fight, for heaven's sake....

You misread...................it was Meghan McCain who made that statement, not John McCain. Perhaps she was referring to the fact that Obama has repeatedly stated that he wil debate the issues with McCain, but has refused to actually keep his word for months.
