Michigan GOP Using Foreclosures To Block Black Voters

Michigan Messenger:

The chairman of the Republican Party in Macomb County Michigan, a key swing county in a key swing state, is planning to use a list of foreclosed homes to block people from voting in the upcoming election as part of the state GOP's effort to challenge some voters on Election Day.

"We will have a list of foreclosed homes and will make sure people aren't voting from those addresses," party chairman James Carabelli told Michigan Messenger in a telephone interview earlier this week. He said the local party wanted to make sure that proper electoral procedures were followed.

This could be a game changing ad that links McCain (out of touch in one of his seven homes) to a major supporter profiting from people losing their homes and the Republican Party trying to rob the victims of their right to vote. This is an ad that not only has resonance in Michigan but any of the midwestern swing states. No, this resonates everywhere. This is simply outrageous. McCain says education is the new area of civil rights? No! The RIGHT TO VOTE is still the playing field for civil rights. This is not about race, this is about economics. Regardless of color, if you are poor you are subject to be tricked out of your vote by the McCain-Rovian cynicism of the Republican party. This is our call to arms. Enough!

Would David A. Trott be willing to host McCain and eager to assist in blocking voters who might not pull the lever for McCain if he thought McCain was in any way a threat to his business?

Does anyone think that an “Enough is Enough” rebellion would fly? I have had this thought circling in the back of my brain all day.

Obama is the master organizer, the king of the grass roots movement, but he’s right when he says this is about US, not him. I read these blogs and I listen to the disgust in people’s voices when they talk about this… the MSM is letting so much of this slide, why can’t someone do something, we cannot be seeing a repeat of the Rovian slime/attack and distract politics succeed in putting another set of GOP thugs in charge of our country again.

I get it. A whole lot of people get it, but my question is “Why can’t we do something about it?” It wouldn’t have to be elaborate… but VOLUME speaks. It speaks profoundly. If millions of people stand up and make a declaration that this will not stand, we could take back this election…before the election.

Email campaigns..phone calls? Any suggestions? We have time to blog, why can’t we take time to email, or make calls? We could fill the inboxes at every major news organization, leave thousands of voice mails… It’s virtually FREE to do.

It may not be nice but if your home has been foreclosed then you don't live there anymore and your voter registration is not valid for that address. Michigan Democrats should be looking at the registration roles to help people that have been foreclosed re-register at their new address.

You know what? I'm from Michigan. I was never active in Dem. politics in Michigan. This move does not surprise me. This is the old 'oops, wrong precinct, you need to go vote here' routine. THANKFULLY, it is BEFORE the October 6 deadline. IF there are any, ANY Obama/Dem volunteers who have been registering voters In Macomb AND WAYNE COUNTIES, they need to check, and double check and CHECK their registrations VERY CAREFULLY. THIS is going to be a dog fight to the bitter end and we need to be SURE that EVERY VOTER WHO IS REGISTERED VOTES! PLAIN AND SIMPLE! Well-in THEORY. First of all, the Governor of the STATE is a tad busy right now being a surrogate for Obama on National TV. Secondly, she's prepping Biden for his debate. Thirdly--there are LOTS AND LOTS of MICHIGAN DEMS in these two counties. We DO have time to prepare. BUT WE NEED TO BE PREPARED! Period! Exclamation point. P.S.
