Barack Obama To Appear On "Saturday Night Live" This Weekend

NEW YORK — Oh how things have changed for Barack Obama since he last appeared on "Saturday Night Live."

The Democratic presidential nominee's campaign revealed Thursday that he would be making his second appearance on the program, for the season premiere this weekend. Also scheduled to appear is Olympic gold medal-winning swimmer Michael Phelps.

Obama last appeared on the program in November 2007, making a cameo during an opening skit about a Halloween party at Hillary Rodham Clinton's house, where she was portrayed as the presumptive president. As it turned out, Obama defeated Clinton for the Democratic nomination.

Obama's campaign said details of his new sketch were still being worked out.

Am I the only one who thinks this is a TERRIBLE idea? The Republicans have been fairly successful with labelling him a celebrity. I like Obama and plan to vote for him, but I certainly don't consider him a 'heavyweight' with an impressive 'gravitas'. Appearing on SNL seems like a good move if a politician has a reputation as a dull nerd, but this will only play to what a lot of voters perceive as Obama's weaknesses: the cool guy who wants to be a star.

SNL knows they will hit a ratings high with Obama. There is a video by Lisa Nova that is super viral right now with Palin attacking Obama, she's running him down, jumping on his back etc, then he just loses it an they bleep out all the names he is calling her, then she gets up and says see my work is done.. It is hilarious.
