Barack Obama To Appear On "Saturday Night Live" This Weekend

NEW YORK — Oh how things have changed for Barack Obama since he last appeared on "Saturday Night Live."

The Democratic presidential nominee's campaign revealed Thursday that he would be making his second appearance on the program, for the season premiere this weekend. Also scheduled to appear is Olympic gold medal-winning swimmer Michael Phelps.

Obama last appeared on the program in November 2007, making a cameo during an opening skit about a Halloween party at Hillary Rodham Clinton's house, where she was portrayed as the presumptive president. As it turned out, Obama defeated Clinton for the Democratic nomination.

Obama's campaign said details of his new sketch were still being worked out.

If Barack appears on a comedy show while a devastating hurricane is drowning hundreds of people in and around the nation's fourth largest city, we might as well hand the keys to the White House to John McCain right now. I hope to God Barack reconsiders. The Republicans will have a field day with this.

I think it's a tough call. Absent the hurricane, I think it's brilliant. Imagine the re-flashes of McSame on his previous appearances. And the enevitable Tina presence (oh, hell ya, she'll be there).

But what would McCain say? "I made sure there were no natural disasters, or killings of innocents, and everybody had a 'chicken in every pot and two cars in the garage' each time I appeared?"

If the hurricane turns out to be horrible (and it doesn't look like it will, just tough), then SNL can readjust as fast as any show on T.V. when Obama says he has to defer.

I think it's a great idea. The campaign has become nasty. Seeing Obama in a humorous setting will do more for his poll ratings than anything else.

Situation, I agree with you completely! I loved watching Obama's side of the interview at Columbia University regarding service. McSame BSed his way through, I don't really think that when he thinks of the term service that he thinks of anything else but armed service, he just isn't too convincing, and he looked so frail and old I actually felt a tad sorry for him.
