NEW YORK — Oh how things have changed for Barack Obama since he last appeared on "Saturday Night Live."

The Democratic presidential nominee's campaign revealed Thursday that he would be making his second appearance on the program, for the season premiere this weekend. Also scheduled to appear is Olympic gold medal-winning swimmer Michael Phelps.

Obama last appeared on the program in November 2007, making a cameo during an opening skit about a Halloween party at Hillary Rodham Clinton's house, where she was portrayed as the presumptive president. As it turned out, Obama defeated Clinton for the Democratic nomination.

Obama's campaign said details of his new sketch were still being worked out.

I think you're confusing him w/ McCain - the guy who HOSTED SNL, a frequent talkshow guest, movie star, who makes Sarah stick by his side because no one wants to see him, etc...

But go on - keep drinking the Kool Aid.

McCain has shown up on many more shows than Obama. He must love the applause too. They both do. Get over it.

McCain's campaign is a stream of lies, and McCain is complicit. Palin was a cynical, purely political VP selection that speak volumes about McCain's LACK of judgment. In short, McCain would rather win an election than put the interests of the U.S. first. McCain is also notoriously ill-tempered and rash -- criticisms levied by colleagues from within his own party. Is all of this evidence of "experience" and "leadership"? If so, no thanks. Bush had "experience" too, mind you. Lots of good that got us.

Enough.

Obama is intelligent, deliberate, and discerning, which is precisely the kind of leadership the U.S. needs at this time.

Mattie. Don't whine. We all know the old guy couldn't get any audience by himself in the stump. So, he attaches himself to a gal and hides behind her skirt. What a pow !

Excellent move, let's hope the cast and the writers are up to the challenge. Fred better hone his O impersonation though, 'cos the old one kinda sux.

I'm sure they'll try to resurrect the "Celebrity" charge...

I suggest that Obama revive the Reagan line "There you go again" to be used when they start whining or trying to divert the discussion...

Disparage? A tad harsh isn't it? Besides, Barack has a great sense of humor and is modest too! Unbeatable combo.

Did you not see the 3 AM Hillary and Obama sketch from last season?...That was very harsh...and a tad racist, too.
