The Muslim-peddling about Democratic nominee Barack Obama continues, mostly through lies trafficked over the Internet, but also in questions raised in polite company by well-known and influential members of the political establishment.

Here's what Dennis Baxley, a former state legislator from Ocala and the executive director of the Christian Coalition of Florida, one of the most prominent groups on the religious right, said during an interview with the Miami Herald about Obama's outreach to the Christian community:

"He's pretty scary to us,'' he said. "I think his Muslim roots and training -- while they try to minimize it -- it's there."

This is a good reason for churches to fear being taxed as they rightly should be. If the man wants absolute freedom to talk about anything he wants to his church should pay taxes.

When will people stop taking political advice from fat, pasty old white guys.

Then again, it's worked so well up 'til now.

Argh, it's people as convoluted and judgmental as this guy that gives Christians in general a bad name. Dude, save your racism for the bully pulpit and stay the hell out of politics.

Another so called preacher looking for his 15 minutes of fame. They spread there hate and bigotry and claim to be christians. They don't know the bible. This kind of message speaks for itself. Help Mccain at all cost. This the biggest reason people leave the church.

Karl Rove is replacing swiftboating (2004) with race-baiting (2008). Watch for it. It's already happening.

Does the Christian Coalition of Florida have tax exempt status? If so it should be revoked.

I think it's past time for the so called "moderate peace loving Christians" to come forward and denounce hateful voices like Mr. Baxter's. Until then I'm just going to have to assume they're enemies of America too.

And a group is pushing for the pulpit to endorse a candidate without fear of losing their tax exemption. This is clearly a reason to STOMP on THAT idea.

Let me make this as simple as I can, as simple as it actually is. McCain has only one chance to win the presidency: bigotry. And do not vfool yourself; he will play for bigots as hard as he can. He has already hired the slimers who played for bigots against himself in 2000 in South Carolina for Bush whom he has served slavishly for the past 8 years.
The best counter to the bigotry ploy is to tell the voters of Indiana, Michigan and Ohio that the choice is theirs. They can vote like Mississippi -- and expect that in the future they will get Mississippi-like wages and benefits, or they can vote like Americans should, on the issues, and for competence (for a real change!)
I am a Mississippi born redneck and I approve this message.

As a native Floridian, I am ashamed of this redneck. But I have been ashamed of them before. Just like Palin in Alaska, some of these places are more isolated so they raise these kinds of people. Ocala has been a booming horse racing industry, so I would like to hope that one day we boot these kinds of morons out of the political arena. They have done a lot of damaged to Florida's political system. Obama doesn't scare, this idiot does. Obama probably reminds them of reconstruction, stop the black guy at all cost even if his policies are better.

This man would not know Christianity if Jesus himself came up to him and slapped him in the face.
