Just Like Bush: Palin Claims Executive Privilege On Secret Emails

The Washington Post reports that Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) is "being asked by a local Republican activist to release more than 1,100 e-mails she withheld from a public records request, including 40 that were copied to her husband, Todd." Invoking a favored practice of the Bush administration, Palin has claimed executive privilege to keep the e-mails secret -- despite the fact many of them were sent to Todd, who is not an elected official.

What's more, Palin and her staff intentionally use her personal Yahoo e-mail account, perhaps to avoid document release requests.

I can't believe how she is hiding out from the press. Could her campaign people possibly think they can keep this up. The statement "we decide who she talks to" should be enough for any thinking person to walk away from this ticket! So she's afraid of the big bad cable news shows? That's too bad but she's a big girl now and needs to say something that she hasn't memorized or been taught by her handlers. I believe she is a dangerous person and we now know how to spot them - we've had one for president for 8 years.

In the words of The Church Lady, "Well, isn't that conveeeennnnient?" She looks a lot more like Bush each day. Of course, she still has a lot to learn as you don't cc: citizens when you claim exec privilege. This is what happens when you don't let Rove groom your VP pick before you pick them.

By the way, just one thing I have to get off of my chest. I wish McCain would really start straight-talking and stop calling her a reformer. The only reason that Palin took on her own party is because they were the easiest pickings on the road to where she wanted to go. It was expedience and not because she was a reformer. If there were Dems directly in the line of fire, she would have hit them first. Tigers eat their own young. That doesn't mean that they are siding with the gazelles.

Hmmmmm, let's see. Abuses power to fire state employee who goes against her wishes. Claims executive privilege to avoid embarrassing emails being exposed. Uses state money for personal reasons. Maybe she is ready to lead on day one.
