Tina Fey Sarah Palin

Saturday Night Live creator and executive producer Lorne Michaels said the show is talking with Tina Fey about playing Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin at some point this season, possibly as soon as this Saturday's season premiere.

"There are discussions [with Tina]," Michaels said during a conference call with reporters. "They are ongoing."

Rumors have been swirling that Fey will portray Palin, at least for the season premiere, following an interview with 24-year-old SNL scribe Simon Rich in New York magazine. Fans online have posted pictures of Fey next to Palin, pointing out similarities.

Michaels isn't hedging all of his bets on Fey, however. He said current cast member Casey Wilson has read for the part of Palin.

I wonder if they'll do anything with the lipstick on the pig.

Has it occurred to anybody besides me that Tina Fey has to do SNL with STEVE MARTIN as John Mc Cain?? They would look more like John and Sarah than they do themselves!

That would be great.

Tina Fey is obvious and perfect for Palin. Several friends and I were talking about it at lunch today before I read this article.

"Governor, do you even know what the Bush Doctrine is?"

"Oh, Charlie, Charlie! Ya know, I had a lots of cookies to bake this week for my daughter's Brownie troop, so, Charlie, I guess I'd have to say that I would do everything in my power to blow up those darn terrorists. Yeah. That's what I would do, Charlie. Nail the terrorists, for sure."

"That has, uh, nothing to do with what I asked. You..."

"Oh, Charlie!"

"You don't know what the Bush Doctrine is, do you, Governor?"

"Charlie! If I had to memorize every doctrine that was ever invented, who would bake the cookies? Huh, Charlie? Are YOU gonna bake my daughter's cookies? I didn't think so."

Kristin Wiig could do a great Sarah Palin. Tina Fey is great too but she really can only play herself. Kirstin Wiig has some range and can do a great Target cashier.

Can't wait for Saturday Night live, especially if they have more episodes where Obama is parodied and the far left go all hysterical and deluge the SNL bulletin boards with their loony rants and crazed boo hoo paranoid spiels about far right conspiraciesand begging the cast to lay of Obambi.

I think the last few days prove that the Repubs are the champions of boo-hoo artistry.

Gee, what an original idea. No-one thought of that two minutes after her candidacy was announced. I mean, duh, why announce the obvious??

Try reading the article before posting boorish remarks.

It leaked.

Michaels THEN confirmed that they were in talks.

Well they better milk it for all it is worth, because Palin will only be on the national scene for another eight weeks.

After seeing in her ABC interview, that Palin didn't even know what the "Bush Doctrine" was, I am convinced that Saturday Night Live should get her to play herself in Saturday's opening show. The name of this comedy troupe, if I remember correctly, is "The Not Ready For Prime Time Players"!

I think they stopped using the term "The Not Ready For Prime Time Players"! abt 15 years ago when SNL stopped being funny.

I find it funny. And I'm especially a fan of the Tina Fey era when the humor stopped being such a boys-only affair.

Sketch comedy is always going to be hit or miss, and even the most classic episodes from the past have dull skits in them. But this may mean nothing to someone who uses gigantic all-encompassing inaccurate generalizations, like yourself.

Good one - Sarah certainly is NOT ready for primetime because the Bushies haven't programmed her stock responses yet. Don't worry though. They will finish the programming and then roll
her out veru carefully, in a highly managed manner. Hopefully even stupid Americans will see
through her.

Me too! I have already set my DVR in anticipation. I will be enormously disappointed if this doesn't happen.
