Lorne Michaels Wants Tina Fey As SNL's Sarah Palin

Saturday Night Live creator and executive producer Lorne Michaels said the show is talking with Tina Fey about playing Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin at some point this season, possibly as soon as this Saturday's season premiere.

"There are discussions [with Tina]," Michaels said during a conference call with reporters. "They are ongoing."

Rumors have been swirling that Fey will portray Palin, at least for the season premiere, following an interview with 24-year-old SNL scribe Simon Rich in New York magazine. Fans online have posted pictures of Fey next to Palin, pointing out similarities.

Michaels isn't hedging all of his bets on Fey, however. He said current cast member Casey Wilson has read for the part of Palin.

Tina Fey is pro-Hillary. I can't visualize her doing a good job with that character. Many Hillary supporters are staying out of the Palin attacks just because it's fun to watch Republicans go after Obama. The way Obama went after Hillary (or pretended to take the high road while his supporters did all the dirty work). Obama is one character no one can make funny. Obama has zero personality. As an avid fn of Ms. Fey [in more ways than one] and with thte proviso that she will do miss Sarah on SNL. The following regardless of the skit outline:-

Have a 'silent' McCain look alike [somewhat lustily] at Miss Sarah all through the skit

Have Miss Sarah sit behind a table on which there are several hunting knives, a shotgun, a hocky puck and unccoked moose meat. { the setting should be Miss Sarah's kitchen.. somewhat similar to the old Julia Child's skit still let Tina decide}.

Skit along the old Ed. Murrow's drop ins. Have the reporter character ask at least these three questions; in which country is Osama ben Laden hiding out in? And is it true that Osama Ben Laden is a distant cousin to David Ben Gurion?

The third question should be along the lines of..."when you want to relax after a tough day do you prefer doing it wearing a skirt or a pair of levis?

Whether the above is conisdered comical or not it would certainly provide a lot of moose food for thought. And if used wholly or in part by SNL I expect some credit

but
I honestly think there are millions of actresses who could "parody" Palin effectively

I mean, she's almost a self-parody already
