Senator Barack Obama will intensify his assault against Senator John McCain, with new television advertisements and more forceful attacks by the candidate and surrogates beginning Friday morning, as he confronts an invigorated Republican presidential ticket and increasing nervousness in the Democratic ranks.

Mr. McCain's choice of Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska as his running mate and the resulting jolt of energy among Republican voters appear to have caught Mr. Obama and his advisers by surprise and added to concern among some Democrats that the Obama campaign was not pushing back hard enough against Republican attacks in a critical phase of the race.

But just so you know " this is by my count the 4th time Obama"s campaign has officially or unofficially made such a declaration that Obama will "take off the gloves" and fight back.

That"s a lot of pairs of gloves.

The Isotoner campaign, one might say.

Its about time but I'm not seeing it so far --- I'm hoping his people understand that its not just 'his' future we're interested in , its all of us.
The latest anti-McCain ad about McCain being computer il-literate might be cute but its a far cry from what they're competing with. They need to "unload" on these hacks --- use the vaste array of contradictions that have come from McCain & 'whats-her-name' and the Republican Bushco record of the last 8 miserable years. You know, waging war on the wrong country, bin Laden on the loose, bank failures, foreclosures , market turmoil , rampant corruption , domestic spying , assault on the Bill of Rights , Rule of Law etc. etc. etc. Use photo-bytes of a "McCain world" --- mushroom clouds , a melted arctic , pseudo-christian agenda , continued corporate crimes , no taxes for the rich , McCains hiden record , Bush's '04 anti-McCain attack ads , whatever it takes to keep these fascist barbarians out of the Whitehouse. Theres has never ever been more political ammunition available --- "use it all".

^^-make no promises that you don't keep

why would he do that? he doesn't need to use lies and smears. he has truth on his side. and he isn't finishing last, no matter how hard they try to steal this election.

I saw Obama on TV last night, all he did was praise McCain !! He's an honorable man, his service to our country is legendary, blah blah blah - NO NO NO !!! He can't keep doing that ! It sends the message that it's just fine to vote for McCain, nothing bad will happen, the differences between them is minimal - these are TERRIBLE MESSAGES !!!! Hell, let's just all vote for McCain and go home ! This is a struggle for our nation's future - this is life or death ! We cannot praise them for ANYTHING - I can't believe the things I hear Obama say. ROTC on college campuses, McCain agrees ! More troops in Afghanistan - McCain agrees ! Expand the military - McCain agrees !! On question after question, he'd say "Senator McCain is right about that, but..." Why I should support Obama, if McCain is so honorable, decent, and right ?

I agree 100% No time for them. Like you said, focus, donate and put our time in for a great candidaite and a great cause. I have grandsons. I dont want them off fighting an oil w a r.

On another, one of the things I like best in one of the new ads, is Mac riding ina golf cart with old man b ush. Thats a great visual if you want to show how old and behind the times the old guy really is.

Lord Obama has said that he was going to get tough four times now, is this as tough as he gets?
WOW.

What is he gonna get tough on?

Tough on higher taxes?
Tough on destorying a tettering/declining economy?
Tough on security?
Tough on reducing the size of the military?
Tough on trying to smear Palin?
Tough on his support of abortions on full term pregnancy?
Tough on not drilling?
Tough on his former ra cis t pastor?
Tough on trying to secure defeat in Iraq?

Meanwhile, McCain's lead in the national numbers is shrinking.

The election is still seven weeks away, we have the debates ahead, and McCain is still seeing the tail end of his convention/VP bounce.

Keep your pants on, this thing ain't over yet.

McCaint DESERTED in partially incapacitated and OLDER wife, along with HIS CHILDREN, in order to 'marry up' into money, many houses, and down into YOUNGER flesh.
No American should want such a family DESERTER and opportunist as their leader.

Country = People!
OPPORTUNIST McCant IS NOT in a habit of 'putting people first', beginning with his own family!

McCain has always used women to get ahead. And he's doing it again with Palin.

He does show a pattern. The he accuses someoneelse as being sexist.

Typical re pug hypocracy.

Exactly!
Opportunist McCaint is a PIMP! lol

It is interesting to note that Cindy McCaint's dad ALSO DESERTED his wife and child!

McCaint is a phony and dishonorable; but as in the case of bush, some Americans will reject a dishonorable person WHEN IT'S TOO LATE!

Here's another ad suggestion after seeing some of the headlines from factcheck.org.

1) Show clips of Obama calling McCain a man of honor.
2) Then launch into the number of inaccurate, misleading, negative ads and downright lies.
3) End with a question --- "Is this a man of honor"?

Barry's need strategy- calling names.

"You're old!"

"You're a pig."

I'm located in a small town, (25,000 peeps) in southwest Ohio. The TV stations are running 3-4 new Obama ads I have not seen before. One points out the lobbyists in Mac's camp, then shows the Whitehouse and asks the question..."Who will really be running the McCain whitehouse".

Oh, the best part, it features Phill Graham. Excellent. The hounds are out of the kennel.

These will run all weekend during football, and then be the talk of Sunday morning talk.

It made me throw my arms up, like a football official signaling a touchdown.

We picked the right candidate and can say we were a part of history. It's lots of fun, like a rollercoaster ride. As much fun as this is, as exciting as it has been , being with Barack this long, and as much pride I want to feel, I am actually humbled. I never thought I would see this in my lifetime. WOW!

This is because Obama cant win on issues. The more people that find out Obama is the most liberal Senator, the worse he does. Palin stole his novelty and he is left with his near non-existant record. Is there time to bring Hillary back?

I guess there's time for you to bring Hillary anywhere you want too, but right now, we're moving on with Barack Obama, the next president of these United States.

Nice. Keep the Kult banner flying highg and keep on alienating those HRc supporters. You sdon't need them.

With supporters like you, Nyland, Kevinsenven, beyondgoodandevil and olivia, Obam-a doesn't need enemies. You guys are doing McCain's work for him.

To all you nervous 'liberal bloggers' I would suggest if you don't have the guts for the battle, choose a different field.

The enemy can smell fear, so if you're panicky, stay off the blogs and keep it amongst yourself, or talk to the campaign directly, don't expose your fear for all to see.

BTW WTF are you afraid of?

O got this, are you that wimpy?

you too? wtf?

cp, with all due respect, you aren't down here. you have no idea how effective his grassroots campaign has been. obama doesn't need to get nasty, he has the truth on his side. he is putting out ads that are showing the lies. but he does not need to resort to lies and deceit to get it done. the truth speaks for itself.

I'm talking about what I'm seeing online. I'm telling those online if they're scared, stand back and let the adults handle it..

I'm sure O has this covered, but if the media gets a scent of fear, they're going to pounce on it, and they can only get this scent of fear if the bloggers here are panicky.

I'm telling people to either come on here and fight for O, or stay off the blog.

HALLELUJAH !.!.! - THE FIGHT IS ON ! ! ! - Obama better be ready to brutally beat up those horrid Republicans who have almost destroyed this country. Because if he can't get tough with them,
then he just ain't gonna be tough enough for the job of putting the country back together.
3 yr. old kids are using the computer - and McDumb can't manage it????
How embarrassing that he actually is a Senator, let alone a freaking president ! ! !

Prepare to have some fun.

Barack is making his stretch run.

Never underestimate the prowess of a man who is the first African Americna to achieve this kind of nomination. How does an old man and an ego stuffed, ill-prepared, know nothing like Pal in think they can defeat the most powerful political movement in modern history?

They simply can't.

To be fair to Obam-a a lot of the current malaise is the fault of the DNc and the extended dem campaign this year. After 18 months of non-stop Obam-a /HRC spotlight, the media wants fresh meat. The real challenge now is for Obam-a's campaign to shift focus and regain momentum without the fuel of being the newest shiniest thing.

I agree. But being the newsest shinest thing in a strech run may be more of a liabilty than an asset.

It could be like a bright new shiny car.... that has no engine. Looks good, but it will not take you anywhere.
