WSJ:

An informal adviser who has counseled Gov. Sarah Palin on ethics issues urged her in July to apologize for her handling of the dismissal of the state's public safety commissioner and warned that the matter could snowball into a bigger scandal.

He also said, in a letter reviewed by The Wall Street Journal, that she should fire any aides who had raised concerns with the chief over a state trooper who was involved in a bitter divorce with the governor's sister.

In the letter, written before Sen. John McCain picked the Alaska governor as his running mate, former U.S. Attorney Wevley Shea warned Gov. Palin that "the situation is now grave" and recommended that she and her husband, Todd Palin, apologize for "overreaching or perceived overreaching" for using her position to try to get Trooper Mike Wooten fired from the force.

does anyone know what kind of fur that is on the wall behind her in that picture? It looks like a lynx. For shame! No one eats lynx, which would be the only viable reason to kill something.

Oh, gosh, I just realized something....I hope it wasn't a PUMA!!!

It's pretty hard not to notice Todd Palin, who is always his wife's constant companion. He is in almost all of the pictures just as much as mccain. She also cc'd him on mayoral and gubenatorial matters that also included firing her former brother-in-law. He travels with her everywhere, so who takes care of the children? I am not knocking a mother who seeks politics, but didn't she say Todd was a stay at home dad? Maybe she does put her contry first and her children ...last.

I've wondered the same about Mr. Palin.

And, from what I've seen of her interview tonight, she doesn't seem to be able to multi-task very well. Maybe at least Todd should be home with the 4 month old, the teenage daughter who seemed to need a little supervising, and now we hear that maybe the son had gotten in trouble for vandalism? And Mommy played pretty fast and loose with little Trig what with taking a long plane trip after she was in labor. But that's o.k. with the Focus on the Family bunch since it's one of their own, it seems.

What a bunch of hypocrites the right wing are!

Fox talking heads would pretend that there's no such thing. Or if they do pay attention to it, they'd say it is a hoax or a sexist opportunity put forth by the Obama campaign. I'm certain Texas, Idaho, Wyoming, and other red states would NEVER know this news.

Palin needs to be asked about this. I suggest that this be opened up during the VP debates with Biden.

This may be even more of a mess than most of us realize.

Trooper Wooten may have worked on the case involving four teenage boys who vandalized 44 school buses in Anchorage a couple of years ago - and Track Palin may have been one of those boys.

I read these things in comments on Alaska blogs by Alaskans. There seem to be a lot of open secrets in Alaska. Where are the journalists?

I heard about the bus vandalization and Track's involvment. It's apparently the reason that Track volunteered to enlist: it was either enlist or jail time.

If Wooten is involved, this gets REALLY bad.

This trooper was on CNN and admitted he tasered his 9 year old stepson.

His punishment - suspended for 5 days.

I repeat the guy ADMITTED on TV that he tasered his stepson.

His job record was packed with complaints.

Even the CNN reporter admitted that this is NOT a nice guy, hard to feel sorry for him.

If you were governor and one of your STATE TROOPERS tasered your nephew what would you do.

In all seriousness, what happens when this ethics investigation finds Palin guilty?
08:33 PM on 09/11/2008
I am guessing nothing because we are too stupid to figure out that we have been duped for the last 8 years..........

The Rad Evangelical will "forgive" her and suck up her lies..... showing their hypocrisy....

Instead of just reading what the press- Huffingon, FOX, CNN say's maybe you intellectual lefties should do some of your own research- first off Palin probably has more foreign policy experiance than most- what Governor really does but she at least has dealt with nations such as Greenland, Canada, Russia, Norway and Denmark- outside of a few border states Alaska has a complex relationship with more than than just say Mexico, Canada. SInce when did being a Washington Insider experianced politician a good thing..?.. were all fed up with the Washington crowd but Obama's inexperiance is ok, but Palins isn't?
08:46 PM on 09/11/2008
She has not. You are sooooo funny!

She just got her first passport in February 2008. Her foreign policy experience is a sad joke on us all. At least Obama has traveled outside of the country prior to running for public office. He's met with foreign leaders in Africa, Europe and the middle-East.

They had to list "Ireland" as a country she's traveled to just to pump up her list - it was a re-fueling stop on the way back from a military base in Germany. In other words, it's like saying you spent time in Denver when it was just a stop on the way to Seattle. Do you get me here?
09:29 PM on 09/11/2008
This women is no expert in foreign affairs. She is the most undereducated, under-traveled VP candidate ever. She has not met a single foreign leader. Give me a break. Don't be silly and compare her to someone who GRADUATED from Columbia and HARVARD. She went to anchorman school at Hawaii Pacific University, North Idaho College and University of Idaho. McCain was a poor student in high school and bottom of his class at Annapolis. What's with America?

Has anyone noticed that Wooten is a heavyset version of Matt Parkman from Heroes
(the cast of Matt Damon's Disney nightmare is all but complete...)

Hold ON. Can you hear their voices? Our nation's founders DEMAND we put a stop to this entire discussion, reclaim our Constitution and reverse the damages done to American freedom since we allowed a putsch in 2001.

President George Washington - "The government of the United States is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion." (Treaty Of Tripoli, 1796)

Abraham Lincoln - "The Bible is not my book nor Christianity my profession."

President James Madison - "In no instance have . . . the churches been guardians of the liberties of the people. Religious bondage shackles and debilitates the mind and unfits it for every noble enterprise."

President James Madison - "During almost fifteen centuries has the legal establishment of Christianity been on trial. What has been its fruits? More or less, in all places, pride and indolence in the clergy; ignorance and servility in the laity; in both, superstition, bigotry, and persecution."

President Thomas Jefferson - "I do not find in orthodox Christianity one redeeming feature."

“”Of all the tyrannies that affect mankind, tyranny in religion is the worst.” Thomas Payne

Cheney is a big game hunter.
Religion is the camouflage.
Palin is a decoy.

And - American citizens continue to behave like small forest creatures.

Politically prudent. But just like all leaders who fancy themselves untouchable, she was determined to exact vengance on behalf of her sister. When I first heard about this, my wife told me that potential abuse of power was going to bring her down a notch or two.

If she felt the need to do something, it would have been better to attempt to encourage the assignment of her sister's ex to Barrow or Nome. Not MUCH better, but certainly better than the course she chose.

Well, to quote the Ten Commandments of the Republican Party:

"Never apologize, never admit."

That, incidentally, is all ten commandments.

REGISTER TO VOTE!!!! every man woman and child (who is voting age) MUST STOP THIS TICKET, they are going to get America into another darn war, and the draft will have to be reinstituted. We can't even afford the two we are in, how will we afford THREE WARS?????? Russia told us we invaded Iraq unprovoked, and to stop telling them what to do. WE HAVE few friends in this world left, Great Britain’s new prime minister likes Obama, NOT McCain, they have no plans to go to war again over the USA,. The republican zombies are out to destroy America, Make sure you know where to go and vote early if you can, spread the word. The McCain/Palin ticket claims to be on a mission from God!!!! go to voteforchange.com you can sign up there, register there, find your polling place!!!! DO IT NOW.
09:43 PM on 09/11/2008
BE VERY AWARE of the republican election-fraud-slime-machine. They are mailing out deceitful ballots aimed at democrats and re-directing them as votes for McCain. Yep. The old Rovian tricks deja vu all over again. Do not send in an absentee ballot until you have checked and triple-checked who actually sent it and where it's going to. THE LIFE OF THIS DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC is on the line. Be afraid, be very afraid of these fascists masquerading as republicans. They will pull all the stops to remain in power; after that, pray that a Blackwater guard doesn't drag you out of your home and "disappears" you for further "questioning." Pray that Reich wing theocrats and neocons don't get placed on the Supreme Court and other benches around the country. One that happens----game over!
07:17 PM on 09/11/2008
An apology won't change her character we know she is petty and mean-spirited to want to fire her former brother-in-law because he divorced her sister then fire the man who had ethics and would not do it.
Please don't vote against your own best interest by voting Republican!
