Palin

NY Times:

In speech after speech to crowds in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia in recent days, Gov. Sarah Palin, the Republican candidate for vice president, has made sure to mention the so-called Bridge to Nowhere, the Alaska project that has become the symbol of earmarks, and what she portrays as her "thanks but no thanks" position on it.

When she landed in Fairbanks in her home state on Wednesday night, though, the bridge was notably absent from an (otherwise mostly similar) speech she made inside an airplane hangar before her homestate crowd.

Ever since she first said it, two weeks ago, critics have questioned her claim that she "told Congress, 'thanks but no thanks on that Bridge to Nowhere.'"

Roger Ebert got it right in the Chicago Sun Times Sept. 11 edition: Roger Ebert on Sarah Palin: The American Idol candidate.

Palin's interview with Gibson was atrocious - and not because of Gibson. Simply put - Palin isn't ready. Hey, neither is insular McCain. The Rob Caldwell interview was atrocious but moreover amazing! A flurry of congratulatory e-mails is appropriate!!!!!! If you haven't seen it, check it out: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/09/11/mccain-interview-on-palin_n_125743.html

Check this out ... this page has an amazing section on the Bridge to Nowhere. Tons of info on it -

http://dailysource.org/palin

This special section has in-depth research, audio clips, videos, and links to hundreds of articles, including many from papers and TV stations in Alaska. It has rare footage including her telling the ‘08 convention of the Alaska Independence Party, whose aim is to give Alaska a vote on seceding from the U.S., to “keep up the good work.” The level of research is unparalled.

It is up to the MEDIA to report on her lie ( lies) and now the absence of it. Use your own eyes and ears.

The Alaskans, THE LOCALS, know her history, as well as the history of the Bridge. She can't keep lying to the people who know exactly what had happened locally.

Now, why on earth would she do that?

It is not going to matter one whit.

I think that is a little strange that she all of a sudden dropped the bridge line onece she stepped foot in her own home town. I think she knows that she can't say that stuff about the bridge in her own town because they already know that she is telling a lie.

McCain campaign admits mailing 1 Million bad ballot applications to voters in Ohio *UPDATED*
by Moo Means Hello
Thu Sep 11, 2008 at 07:04:06 PM PDT

Crossposted at The Motley Moose

Good Christ Almighty, here we go again. Hot off the wire from the Cincinnati Enquirer:

About one-third of the absentee ballot applications received at the Hamilton County Board of Elections have been ruled invalid because Republican Sen. John McCain’s presidential campaign printed a version of the form with an extra, unneeded box on it.

Just wait! It gets better!

PASS THIS ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can a campaign do this in Ohio - mail ballots to voters? I would have thought that would be the job of the Election Commission or whatever its name would be there. Surely this cannot be true - man, if it is, and if McCain knew about it, he should withdraw (yeah, I know, like that would ever happen). Still, a girl can dream.

Yeah, and she won't bring it up again, either. It couldn't have been included in her speech in Fairbanks, because we Alaskans know the real story -- or more than the starry-eyed 48'er Republican base does, anyway.

But someone should be telling Sarah, anytime now, that outright lies just encourage people to ask questions, and then she'll stop bringing up that whole thing about the silly Bridge. If she were to keep it up, she'd for sure be losing some Alaskan votes for the ticket.

Nor will she answer questions on it. It will be "old business," just like the rest of her record, and most of McCain's.

Man that tired old speech AGAIN. I swear I think I could about recite the thing myself.

Does anyone else feel like they're stuck in an endless loop of "Fargo" when listening to Palin?

I know, right! I feel like projectile vomitting whenever I see a smug face repeat the same thing!

I kinda like the "Spiro Agnew" comparison that McCain used. Yeah, she's the new Sprio Agnew... You go with that, skippy.

That's the bridge she'll be taking home, post-ABC-interview. Kudos to Charlie Gibson. That was simply hilarious, watching her try to fluff her way through his question about the Bush Doctrine. He even gave her a hint, and she couldn't grab on! Just rockin' good fun. Those SNL sketches are going to write themselves.

I'm peeing myself, again--true and funny. It would be a funny New Yorker cartoon to have a bridge, perpetually, in Sarah Palin's periphery, no matter what she does, where she goes. In the last frame, she could be committed or hang herself from said bridge.

I would like to know why that money was not returned and who was in charge of getting that money back. --- I've never seen anything like the corruption that is going on, no wonder we're in the financial mess we're in no one is in charge of the treasury.

Now that's funny.

Another two weeks, and she'll have nothing to say except "hello my name is Sarah, vote for me!"
