Palin Drops Reference To "Bridge To Nowhere" In Speech

In speech after speech to crowds in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia in recent days, Gov. Sarah Palin, the Republican candidate for vice president, has made sure to mention the so-called Bridge to Nowhere, the Alaska project that has become the symbol of earmarks, and what she portrays as her "thanks but no thanks" position on it.

When she landed in Fairbanks in her home state on Wednesday night, though, the bridge was notably absent from an (otherwise mostly similar) speech she made inside an airplane hangar before her homestate crowd.

Ever since she first said it, two weeks ago, critics have questioned her claim that she "told Congress, 'thanks but no thanks on that Bridge to Nowhere.'"

It took her long enough to drop this demonstrable lie from her stump speech. If she continues to remove all the other lies and distortions from her "greatest hits of the convention" speech, she'll be reduced to "hi, I'm Sarah Palin", her bulldog joke and "vote for me and John McCain". I bet the Republican crowds will continue to go wild - they seem to be an easy crowd for a pretty face.

That's the real reason. It's not because the media doing their job. She knows she can't lie to that crowd. But to the rest of American, she feels she can. Because people can relate to her after two weeks of script reading.

I live here. She can lie all she wants. It is all about the conservative agenda of abortion and homosexuality. As long as she gets them that, they will continue to have a sparkle in their eye regardless if she lies or not. I believe that is true in the rest of conservative America as well with the so called "Walmart moms: white, hard-working and just racist enough to "not trust" Obama.
