Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin told ABC's Charles Gibson on Thursday that "I would never presume to know God's will or speak God's words."

The response came in answer to question about comments Palin made to a group of graduating Wasilla high school students earlier this year, first reported by the Huffington Post. At that ceremony, Palin said: "Pray for our military men and women who are striving to do what is right. Also, for this country, that our leaders, our national leaders, are sending [U.S. soldiers] out on a task that is from God," she said. "That's what we have to make sure that we're praying for, that there is a plan and that that plan is God's plan."

In her interview with Gibson, Palin sought to compare her words to those of Abraham Lincoln, who famously urged citizens to pray that the country was on God's side, not the other way around.

And it's easy enough to see how Palin's comments on the Iraq war could be viewed through a Lincolnesque lens. But it's simply not true that Palin has "never" presumed to know God's will. In the same speech to graduating high school seniors, Palin explicitly referenced an in-process natural gas pipeline as part of God's will -- in terms much less open to Lincoln-esque interpretation.

"I think God's will has to be done in unifying people and companies to get that gasline built. So pray for that," Palin said at the time.

GEORGIA IS NOT PART OF NATO! This is Mrs. Palins second foreign policy flub!

Georgia has requested to be accepted to NATO and so has the Ukraine. If they are accepted, it would be our duty to help them.

There was also a comment on this web site stating "Charlie Get's the Girl." If anyone, and I mean anyone, EVER referred to Hillary Clinton as a girl, they would be forever banned from public comment. Why is it OK for the left to make such sexist comments?

You're correct--no one on the right ever called Hill a girl. I believe the word was "bitch."

Your post was meant for humor, I'm guessing. (No?)

Actually, Hillary would probably shrug off any "girl" comment because it would be an improvement over all of the hateful and vindictive comments made about her over her entire career. You're reaching and changing the subject...

I hope you're first in line to enlist when the time comes to protect Georgia. If we had continued the good relations with Russia that started with Reagan then Bush Sr and then Clinton, maybe we wouldn't be in this situation, but, alas, W, Cheney and the rest of the enablers have squandered decades of progress in a scant 8 years...

All this God-Talk is making me shiver!!!

Giving fetuses more rights than animals all comes from the Bible.

For a little thought-provoking comic relief check out the amazing new mockumentary, called "Coming Soon" which is streaming for free at http://www.comingsoon.cz.

I thought this was irrelevant in our millenium, but Ms. Palin has proven me wrong!

If only Casey Anthony had got an abortion, Nancy Grace wouldn't have anything to talk about right now.

And why is a child in the womb considered abortion and after birth it's MURDER.

We used to call alchoholics drunks.
We used to call the homeless bums.
Now your trying to call abortion a womans right to choose.

Aborting a child conceived from rape or incest is a choice. Aborting a child because you forgot to use a condom or take your pill is not right.

then you have the old phrase "drunk bum"

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:57 AM on 09/12/2008

When was the last time YOU had to make that choice????Ever have sex without a condom? Who was going to bear the brunt of that little mistake? You? Again, you're ignorant...Your wacko twins for the WH would make it illegal to even have an abortion in cases of rape OR incest!!!As if the rape wasn't bad enough, now this ubber right says that women should carry the baby to term...a child that is one half of her agony and dispair!!!!!!!!!! Do us all a favor and have an opinion if you must, but don't spew it out loud to anyone...since your not a woman, and will NEVER face this decision, keep it in your pants and quit passing judgement about a pain you'll never know!

A fetus is not a child. It will become one, but especially during the first trimester, it is not in any way a living, feeling entity. It has no cognition. A person on death row is a living, feeling entity. Regardless of what he/she has done, we are killing that person for revenge rather than to humanely incarcerate that person. In the meantime, we ignore all those unwanted children and allow those who can conceive but have no parenting skills have children thus resulting in more anti social children. These children in turn wind up incarcerated many times on death row which we then find it ok to kill.

I must confess I am absolutely baffled why my Huffpost yesterday was censured. i mean, I'm under the impression that I'm in an engaging discourse with intelligent like-minded defenders of freedom of expression and staunchly against any police state or repression of individual freedom. I've read the terms and conditions more than once. I guarantee the folks that make the decisions as what is acceptable for this blog that the most extreme right-wing blogs would not have censured my post yesterday. I'm at a loss.

I've been left scratching my head quite a bit too. It's rather maddening to write something thoughtful and articulate only to have it disappear without a trace of your work remaining. Meanwhile, name calling "_____ sucks!" and similar comments remain in abundance. Then you're left puzzled what the problem was.

Maybe it's Sarah Palin's god's will.

I'm not claiming that there is or is not censorship going on, but you must also consider the possibility of technical glitches. When traffic is heavy - lots of people posting comments on the same blog - there is a very high probability that submissions might get dropped. I've had stuff not get posted, very simply, non-confrontational, non-controversial, friendly posts. Sometimes it just happens, it's not always a conspiracy and your rights aren't being trampled any more than heavy traffic on the highway is an infringement on your right to travel.

So the question now is: are the American people smart enough to realize a vote for these dangerous people may seal the deal of taking us down the tubes and past the point of no return? I fear for my country, and I know others out there are thinking if this goes all wrong again where can I move?

The biggest problem with Palin is that she's a divider. When Biden was nominated as V.P., there wasn't an equal outrage, anger, divisiveness spilling over in the country. But when Palin was nominated, it's like 2000 when Bush won, but now we know the real HORROR that can occur and I don't think the country is going to sit back again, which will probably lead to a "lock down" of the country like in dictator countries such as CHINA to hold back our anger if McCain-Palin wins.

Do these extreme religious fanatics running for office and the people supporting them realize thy are no better than the extreme religious fanatics who live in caves? They think Alaska (Third Wave) is a refuge for the righteous, but maybe.....just maybe the rapture they keep waiting and hoping for is really God's plan of taking them out of this world for the pain and suffering they've caused globally. Maybe then the meek shall inherit the earth.
