Rachel Maddow

Rachel Maddow compared and contrasted President Bush's, John McCain's, and Barack Obama's statements on September 11th on her show Thursday night, using them as a reminder of what Americans should be looking for as we head into the homestretch of the presidential election: competence.

Her remarks:

As we turn our attention back to the Presidential campaign, to the choice we will make in November, let September 11, 2008 remind us of what we require from our leaders and from our government: competence. Our choice isn't about language or personality or how well we relate to a politician. This day reminds us that our choice in November is about the competence of the government we will elect.

Neoconservatives plan Project Sarah Palin to shape future American foreign policy

"She's bright and she's a blank page..." McCain is also surrounded with neocons. Hardly a "maverick".

Finishing at the bottom of your class, crashing your plane, stepping out on your family, voting in lock step with Bush/Cheney/Rove and choosing an extremist for a running mate does not indicate competency on any level.

Well said. Damn, she is good.

My thoughts exactly, that's why McCain will win handily.

Hi, I am new to this site. I have not been a Rachel Maddow fan, but after watching her video on the Sept 11 remembrance I was really impressed . I felt that was as good of a delivery I have seen, and I just felt compelled to compliment her. Nice job Rachel!

Pay no attention to UnbiasView, he is a Rush Limbaugh fan, and he is part of a small group of Red State Republicans (So called Indepents) that are talking of SUCEDING from the United States if 0Bama is elected.

They believe that Liberals will destroy the country with their ideas and polices, like Equal pay for women, HealthCare for all Americans, Education, and altnative energy.

Sure glad her show is an original . . . not a rip off of the show right before hers/his (whatever it is).

If competence was the true metric, we would be swearing in President Hillary Clinton in January. But we have a "thing' for rock stars in this immature and gullible country and Obama and Palin fever trumps any real consideration of competence as a prerequisite for the most important jobs in the land. Who are we kidding? Either way this election goes, we're screwed.

I like to see Rachel interview Michele Obama.

That would be hard hitting interview. They could both profess their love of The One.

It's ironic that the GOP continues their juvenile "The One" attack line on Obama, when it is Palin who has repeatedly demonstrated that she believes she is on a mission from God, demands to be handled with "deference" by the media, and has publicly stated that she doesn't feel it's necessary to make herself accessible to spontaneous questions about her policies.

Georgie looks awful. Must be suckin' down the sauce every single day now big time. It's a wonder that PinkFace can actually stand up for his speeches now...

God, you gotta love her. Rachel is a talented, brilliant lady; a voice of reason that we all need. I am happy for her, I am glad she has the last word. She is worthy listening to.
