McCain-Palin Crowd-Size Estimates Not Backed by Officials

Bloomberg:

Senator John McCain has drawn some of the biggest crowds of his presidential campaign since adding Alaska Governor Sarah Palin to his ticket on Aug. 29. Now officials say they can't substantiate the figures McCain's aides are claiming.

McCain aide Kimmie Lipscomb told reporters on Sept. 10 that an outdoor rally in Fairfax City, Virginia, drew 23,000 people, attributing the crowd estimate to a fire marshal.

Fairfax City Fire Marshal Andrew Wilson said his office did not supply that number to the campaign and could not confirm it. Wilson, in an interview, said the fire department does not monitor attendance at outdoor events.

Here is an editorial I just read in the NY Times, which frightens me DEEPLY. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/14/opinion/14rich.html?ref=opinion

In this editorial, Frank Rick provides a very compelling argument that McCain/Palin are mere fronts for other interest groups. That McCain is totally disinterested in running the country, but seeks the glory. That palin is much too unaware of what's going on and is this easily maniputable. Whie he suggests the true forces behind the McCain-Palin ticket may be the conservative right, I believe that there might be coalition....of ultra conservatives, business, lobbyists and other "mercenariies" who have already sold Ameruca and the world in the name of the almighty dollar.

I am now even more motivated to worker harder to defeat these very very SCARY people. READ the article and pass it on.

I think Frank is dead on ... interesting that on a different article in the Times, it states:
"Laura Chase, the campaign manager during Ms. Palin’s first run for mayor in 1996, recalled the night the two women chatted about her ambitions. “I said, ‘You know, Sarah, within 10 years you could be governor,’ ” Ms. Chase recalled. “She replied, ‘I want to be president.’ ”

Folks, have you noticed during many of McCain's major public rallies or outdoor getherings, the cameras seldom pan around the crowds? When they do, once can clearly that the crowds are mostly White, mostly middle-aged and elderly and are scattered. There always seems to be lots of empty seats or rows of empty bleachers.
