McCain-Palin Crowd-Size Estimates Not Backed by Officials

Senator John McCain has drawn some of the biggest crowds of his presidential campaign since adding Alaska Governor Sarah Palin to his ticket on Aug. 29. Now officials say they can't substantiate the figures McCain's aides are claiming.

McCain aide Kimmie Lipscomb told reporters on Sept. 10 that an outdoor rally in Fairfax City, Virginia, drew 23,000 people, attributing the crowd estimate to a fire marshal.

Fairfax City Fire Marshal Andrew Wilson said his office did not supply that number to the campaign and could not confirm it. Wilson, in an interview, said the fire department does not monitor attendance at outdoor events.

how much were the home foreclosures 10 years ago vs how many people owned homes? Is there a greater percent of people that now own homes then 10 years ago.....

many people have purchase bank owned property.......nothing is wrong with that.......there are some great purchases....i purchased some properties and let the local fire department use the 3 houses for training......now I have expanded on to one of the properties.....the other 2 properties are for the shop EMPs to park.......2 years ago i would not have been able to expand.......I have hired many more people because 3 families made a dumb mortgage deal..........i say thanks to their stupidity....... one more house that borders my property is in danger of becoming bank owned.......I have made an offer to buy it for future expansion

the beautiful thing was i paid nothing for the house removal.....the fire department burned them down for training........all i had to do was haul away 3 dump truck loads of material that would not burn then grade the property........it was great i could not have planned it better

6.1% only represents those still receiving unemployment benefits. It does not take into account those that have exhausted their benefits and are still unemployed. This number is a complete sham. We could be at 10 - 15 -20% but that would never come out because no one knows.

Mccain had a ralley in a sports field in St Charles Mo...they annonced there that 24,000 people were in attendance....BUT the spokesman for the baseball team whos field it is said that their was no way it was crowd that size and thought it was about half that amount...the surprising thing is that at least one of our stations the CBS affilliate reported that....

As I recall, the Farrakhan Million-man March had less than half that number. The sponsors of an event tend to optimism. Official reports of most left-wing rallies and crowds tend to be considerably less than the sponsor's estimates. It's the nature of life and human nature. It's NOT lying. They BELIEVED their estimates, and thus they weren't lies. You folks have to chip in and buy a dictionary.
