McCain-Palin Crowd-Size Estimates Not Backed by Officials

Senator John McCain has drawn some of the biggest crowds of his presidential campaign since adding Alaska Governor Sarah Palin to his ticket on Aug. 29. Now officials say they can't substantiate the figures McCain's aides are claiming.

McCain aide Kimmie Lipscomb told reporters on Sept. 10 that an outdoor rally in Fairfax City, Virginia, drew 23,000 people, attributing the crowd estimate to a fire marshal.

Fairfax City Fire Marshal Andrew Wilson said his office did not supply that number to the campaign and could not confirm it. Wilson, in an interview, said the fire department does not monitor attendance at outdoor events.

The one time the blogs linked to Biden was when the MSM tried to make a big deal out of his answer to a question that made Hillary look bad and he defended her.

They also serve two other purposes.

First, they demonstrate the contempt that the liars and their supporters have towards other voters.

Second, they create cohesion amongst the group consisting of the liars and their supporters in opposition to all others.

McCain and his supporters know that he is grinning and lying. He knows that they know that he lying. For them, the truth is not at issue. The cohesion created by the absurdities are much more important.

For them, if the Emperor says "Look, what a great suit I am wearing," their proper response is to describe their admiration for it and it colors, its particular type of weave, the style in which it is cut, and so forth.

It's not necessary that they are actually trying to deceive others who could see that the Emperor is wearing no clothes if they would actually look. For them, it is sufficient if they just collectively agree to parrot whatever the Emperor says and demonstrate their hatred and anger towards who are not similarly inclined.

The Emperor is not alone. The entire MSM is controlled by just a few corporations. As little as four. It's not whether the "uninformed voters" will parrot the idocies of the Emperor but whether the MSM will.

This crew doesn't have much regard for the American People. They also consider us fairly stupid or they wouldn't lie. Lying is a form of abuse because it shows total disregard for your feelings and your worth.

i was taken aback by the crowd estimates when i read them. getting 23,000 people anywhere is no easy feat. 23,000 people is a whole heck of a lot of people. I am not surprised that it was more like a quarter of that amount, which is still a very big crowd.

Honestly no matter what party you belong to this has to be a sad day for America. In the past the candidates made promises. People voted on the issues and how much they believed in the candidates promises. Now we have hit an all time low. The party of so called moral values seems to have no moral conscience. I really used to respect McCain even if I disagreed with his policies. Now I can't listen to him or Palin. They lie without blinking.

I would love someone to publish the lies on each campaign. Its already been noted that Mc lies twice as much as Obama. That number keeps growing. It would be great to have the list and let the world see it. Maybe it will be on the daily show.

One lie that they forget to mention is that the GOP said the FBI had vetted Palin (I believe it was her), but then the FBI said it didn't vet candidates.

Lying about the size of your audience in politics is like lying about the size of your body parts.

I can understand lying and going up a few hundreds but tripling your size of crowd - now that is beyond the pale

McCain doesn't like 'big rock star' crowds and I am beginning to see the toll it has taken on him. If anyone has noticed he looks 10 years older since Palin became his running mate.

That is why he keeps reinerating to Obama, let's do town hall meetings. I don't think think the old Republican Senator can take to many more (23,000 crowds).
