St. Petersberg Times:

Barack Obama could be on the verge of falling out of contention in Florida.

Despite spending an estimated $8-million on campaign ads in America's biggest battleground state and putting in place the largest Democratic campaign organization ever in Florida, Obama has lost ground over the summer. Florida has moved from a toss-up state to one that clearly leans toward John McCain, fueling speculation about how much longer the Democratic nominee will continue investing so heavily in the state.

Obama can still win Florida despite the polling gains McCain has made since naming Sarah Palin his running mate, and there is no sign Obama is pulling back in Florida yet. Far from it. Obama allies say he has about 350 paid staffers in the state and about 50 field offices, including in places not known as fertile ground for Democrats, such as Sun City Center, Lake City and Sebring.

He obviously was warned that his actions in the primaries would put MI and FL into play for Republicans.

He ignored the warnings, to the absolute shock of many of us in the party.

Oh well......

And you are still delusional after all these months.

Why is it that your kind only listens to what they want to hear and then discounts all the rest?

Allow something to challenge your very narrow view of the world sometime. It will help you grow as a person.

Puma is right, and you and many Obamabots are delusional...his actions in primaries hurt him badly in FL, I have heard it directly from friends who are involved in state Dem party...

He also is still viewed suspiciously by two key FL demos: Cubans and Jews...
They can decide the outcome in the state in populous Miami-Dade...
Obama HAS to do well there, because Mack has the corridor in the middle of the state anchored by Orlando sewn up...if Miami-Dade does not go huge for O., he's done.

There is some obvious confusion regarding voter ignorance and voter fraud in Florida. Do not confuse the votes counted in FL with the votes cast. Remember the installation of Jeb and "I can promise you Florida.", as well as the role Harris played. It took a massive orchestration to pull this off. People in FL loved Clinton and will follow her advice, vote O.

This is all about Sarah Palin. Bill Clinton would be campaigning for Obama in Florida at the end of the month and there's these breaking news about Sarah Palin's abuse of office regarding her appointments. That could change this race's dynamic in favor of Obama.

Nobody is buying one word from the press on Pal at this point. Are you kidding? The press has so slimed her that she's now a martyr figure.

The liberal press blew this totally. They dig through and find zip, blow it up into nothing, and then smear her. You don't think normal people know exactly what they are doing?

Bill Clinton should be campaigning in Ohio, not Florida, IMHO

I predict an easy victory in Florida for McCain. 53% to 47%, give or take a percent for 3rd party people.

I see it too...the demographics are not breaking Obama's way there...
He needs to do well in VA or MI, or maybe CO to offset the clear disaster of losing FL, which, along with OH, will decide the election...southeast OH is apparently becoming redder by the day...another bad sign...if O. doesn't crush Mack in Cleveland, Toledo, and Dayton, he's done...Columbus or Cincy ain't leaning his way.

Hi All,

Appreciate the support and encouragement.

Just seeing the polls trend away and all I hear is we need to "talk louder".

Not sure that amounts to a strategy . . . unless we are counting on a miracle.

. . . look, Florida is lost . . . move the resources . . . Washington state, Oregon and Nevada are slipping away . . .let us get some feet on the ground and some serious advertising going on. Washington, Oregon and Alaska are like sister states and we shouldn't take them for granted.

Let's get Bill on the west coast "chatting it up" . . . and send Hillary to Ohio for six weeks . . . and get Senator Obama to stop talking about fixin-to get tough . . . and get him on up to Michigan.

. . . and get Joe on over to NJ, before that one slips away too.

Talk is nice, but time is slippin away . . .

John McCain will fight to save the future of Social Security and believes that we may meet our obligations to the retirees of today and the future without raising taxes. John McCain supports supplementing the current Social Security system with personal accounts -- but not as a substitute for addressing benefit promises that cannot be kept. John McCain will reach across the aisle, but if the Democrats do not act, he will. No problem is in more need of honesty than the looming financial challenges of entitlement programs. Americans have the right to know the truth and John McCain will not leave office without fixing the problems that threatens our future prosperity and power.

If you are voting in Florida you may have a better chance with a paper ballot by mail. The polls are going to be a mess..

how do we know they will be counted? that is what makes me nervous about mail in ballots.

we do have a paper trail, and can take pics of our ballot. idk. i am concerned.

I guess we can't be sure but I know during the primary on Aug 29th they had issues with the optical scanners and that was only with a 12% turnout in Pinellas country. I just think the mail will be more convenient. We will never know for sure if our vote is counted...

Here where I live we have an all mail-in ballot system. You couldn't go to a polling place even if you wanted to.

When you have paper ballots like that, you have a whole bunch of people involved in the process and the ballots are never alone with just one of them. So to change the outcome you would need to be able to get to a lot of different people.

With machines, all you have to do is get to the guy that performs the maintenance.

Also, our voting rate went up 9% because it is so much easier to vote. All you need is a pen and a stamp.

Gosh this is fun to watch.......total meltdown of the left! Yup, the numbers in FL are not looking that good, and there are other polls starting to surface in a few other states, those numbers don't help BO either. If he isn't able to pull off this election he can at least go back to being a community organizer, we know that he has those skills.

Newsweek:

"Overall, a majority of voters (52 percent) have a favorable opinion of Palin, even if they are not familiar with some of the details in her record. Fifty-seven percent of registered voters did not know that Palin opposes abortion even in instances of rape and incest. Sixty-nine percent did not know that she favors teaching creationism in public schools. Asked if Palin shares their view on abortion, 43 percent of white women said yes, 41 percent said no and 16 percent did not know."

It occurred to me that I have not received one piece of "snail mail" (other than things that I ordered) from the Obama Campaign. Some people... probably a few that participated in this poll still prefer hard copy material. Which might explain why "Obsession: Radical Islam's War Against the West", was home delivered as opposed to being made available for download ala Michale Moore's "Slacker UPRISING".

The fact that this many people aren't aware of Palin's record is indicative that the word is not getting out. So let us not get so smug about our computer literacy that we forget that there are voters out there that aren't as confortable as we are with getting their information off of the internet.

We might be missing an opportunity here. I'm just sayin'...

I agree. The Obama campaign needs to get out more print material to all battleground states to distribute/mail to non computer users. The older voters and busy folks need this info NOW!!!!! II live in pa and we are fighting hard to get this out, but need some help.
