Report: 'Florida May Be Falling From Obama's Grasp'

St. Petersberg Times:

Barack Obama could be on the verge of falling out of contention in Florida.

Despite spending an estimated $8-million on campaign ads in America's biggest battleground state and putting in place the largest Democratic campaign organization ever in Florida, Obama has lost ground over the summer. Florida has moved from a toss-up state to one that clearly leans toward John McCain, fueling speculation about how much longer the Democratic nominee will continue investing so heavily in the state.

Obama can still win Florida despite the polling gains McCain has made since naming Sarah Palin his running mate, and there is no sign Obama is pulling back in Florida yet. Far from it. Obama allies say he has about 350 paid staffers in the state and about 50 field offices, including in places not known as fertile ground for Democrats, such as Sun City Center, Lake City and Sebring.

The major polls all poll cell phones now, that is an old argument. Banking on O registering new people to counteract the 5-9 million that are crossing party lines is ridiculous. That has been O's faulty strategy the whole time - arrogantly pushing away the HRC voters because he's so sure he can make it up with registering new voters. The Dems may have out registered Republicans in new voters, but millions of longtime Dems are leaving the party. They are re-registering as Independents and Republicans in droves. That will hurt every down ticket race!

Trust me, I leaved in florida for about 10 years. The hundreds of thousands of AA voters never really felt compelled to turn out and even still Gore almost won. Considering what almost happened during the primaries, I truely believe that we are going to see an electrofied electric turning out to support Mr. Obama. Furthermore, you can not count on Cubans to be head over hills for McCain. Younger cubans just don't see the world the same way.

Now the POTUS race is even with McCain pulling ahead, even in the electoral votes, and the congressional races are showing a trend toward Repugs. Where are those coattails Dean was counting on, not to mention Nancy (God sent us 0bama) Pelosi. The Democratic party should be getting very worried. I wouldn't be surprised if Biden goes for treatments for heart pain; so there would be a reason to drop out of the race to nominate Hillary for VP.

One year ago, I was resigned to 8 years of Hillary and the first fornicator. Now Hillary's gone (and hoping Obama loses so she can try again in 2012 before she's too old) and since July 10, McCain has erased a 40 point Obama lead in the betting sites (which take into account cell phones and registered corpses.)

Now McCain has moved ahead in the popular vote, just moved ahead in electoral votes, has a winner for VP, and will probably make um, er, uh, ah Obama look like a fool in the debates. Biden can't get his foot out of his mouth when he's making a statement he didn't "borrow" from someone else.
