Sen. John McCain talks often about giving "straight talk" to the American people about the real situation in Iraq.
He brags about having been one of the few Republicans willing to openly criticize President Bush's strategy in the years leading up to the surge. And he promises that, if elected, he will hold weekly war briefings and be upfront about how the war is going.

Pessimistic in 2007, and yet he's all about staying there for 100 more years if that's what it takes. I truly believe McCain has a screw loose.
And with all his talk about invading Russia, I still can't get any rethugs to tell me how he intends to fund another war with the horrible economy, jobs going overseas, and keeping the Bush tax cuts in place.

Its already too late. We are about to elect a VP, not a president. It is the most brilliant political strategy I have ever seen in the best Machiavellian sense. John was unelectable but Carl has turned that right around. We now have no choice but to bring her down--John is now irrelevant and trying to put the spot light back on him will be essentially ignored.
This McCain plan appears to working in the near term. As long as people stay riled about Palin, McCain gets clear sailing, but no crowds.
In an effort to offer transparency this election cycle & to make it harder for the Republicans to justify yet another theft of our votes, I urge you all to wear BLUE on election day to show you voted for Obama.

There is a portion of this nation that feels we lost the Vietnam War with total dishonor. I have uncles that are Nam vets and I am old enough to remember the numerous protests over our involvement. It is my belief after watching and listening closely to mccain for over 20 years that he is in that portion of the nation that share the "dishonor" belief.
Have you noticed how it has become so important to him that everyone acknowledges how successful the "surge" is? It's because he wants the honor of winning a war. Some members of the MSM and the public look at him as a hero, because he was in the military, and imprisoned. In his "military family world", he was not a hero because he wrecked 4 planes, and was captured.
He is trying to redeem himself, and this is why he embraced the MSM as his "base". What does a base do? It holds you up, it supports you, it is a central part of your foundation, and it lavishes praise. Along comes the "young" MSM and they began to question his "straight talk", and actually expose him and the "old" MSM. mccain is now showing what the MSM has been trying to hide for more than 20 years. Mccain needs a victory at any cost, he can no longer hide behind "Country First", when it’s really about the "Redemption of John Mccain". Not at my children’s expense.
