The fact is that when you read this you further get the impression that Bush effectively resigned after the inaugural parties were over and ceded the presidency to Cheney. Republican voters effectively cast ballots for the equivalent of a cardboard standup.

Historians are going to eat that whole cabal alive like a shark goes after wounded prey in the water. Too bad that the rules governing the release of archived government documents aren't going to let anyone see the fullest examination of what really went on for about another three generations or so (depending on how much shredding the Bush White House is doing or planning to do before Obama takes office).
