The most recent Coen movie, Burn After Reading, shows just where all the secrecy leads.

Unfortunately, Democrats aren't mentioning that they'll "open up" government. I don't hear Obama discussing the importance of transparency. Nor, for that matter, do the Democrats address signing statements, unilateralism, and the roll of religion in government. Secrecy isn't democracy. It's madness.

Actually, I've heard Obama address the need for government transparency and accountability on several occasions. I just wonder how much he'll be able to do...There has to be some serious cleaning of house in Washington and internationally.

Please listen to Obama's remarks at Columbia U on Thursday the 11th. He calls for and will be held to open government of transparency with citizen oversight.
Thats real change that the McShortchange ticket would never utter!

No he's not. I wish, but don't look for it. Would you give up all the extraordinary powers that Cheney gives the Oval Office? Sure you would...

And John McCain will continue Cheney's legacy of "What the government does is none of the people's business."

Change you can believe isn't.

Thanks to the spineless Democrats, the criminals Bush and Cheney will get a nice government pension instead of a sparse prison cell.

Yes, and the number one enabler to these "high crimes and misdemeanors" is none other than Madame (meretricious) speaker Pelosi herself.
By taking impeachment off the table, she not only failed the American people, she preemptively abdicated her and the congress' constitutional obligations.
Impeachment was never intended by the framers of the constitution to be "off the table". On the contrary, it was quite clearly and explicitly understood as a perpetual sword of Damocles hanging over a malfeasant or power mad executive.
Today's political hacks have no understanding of country, and confuse the common good with their own electoral campaigns.

I WILL SAY THIS ONE LAST TIME, MULE! Impeachment was taken off the table to prevent prez fucksupalot from giving his crime family a presidential pardon at the last minute. Does the name scooter libby ring a bell for anyone??? Hmmm????

READ MY LIPS; IF HE'S NOT THE PRESIDENT, THERE ARE NO PRESIDENTIAL PARDONS! ALSO, THERE WOULDNT BE ENOUGH CONGRESSPERSONS TO ACTUALLY VOTE TO IMPEACH THIS CRIMINAL ADMINISTRATION ANYWAY! WAIT TILL WE GET A CLEAR MAJORITY THEN WATCH WHAT HAPPENS.

Geez, dont you people ever stop and think ???!!!!

This is the warning for voters: Palin, the ambitious governor from Alaska, a small-minded person whose nepotism, vendetta and dictatorship-style of governing Alaska, together with her husband, Todd, as the unelected Co-Governor of Alaska, will be a CHENEY-STYLE VP. The scary thing about Palin is that not only she, but also her husband, will be the VP of this great country of ours: a 320,000,000 persons country, not a small town-, family-run-, style of government. Palin admitted that she didn't take note of anything outside Alaska, so HER KNOWLEDGE of NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL ISSUES IS NONE!
"WILL OUR VETS AND ARMY BE PROUD WITH McCAIN-PALIN AS COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF?"

BREAKING NEWS

Democrat Barack Obama has established a double-digit lead over Republican John McCain in Iowa as the presidential race in this Midwestern battleground enters its critical fall stretch, according to The Des Moines Register's latest Iowa Poll.

left Libertarian ~ Where have you been??

Both Obama and Biden have said that they will investigate the Bush Admin when they're electecf. Obama said this is April of this year. Biden just last month.

So will ya stop askin' now or is your repetitive posting of the same thing just another stupid attempt to try and make Obama and Biden look like they support the status quo?

Why aren't you asking if McCain and Palin would "arrest the criminials Bush and Cheney????????????????????"? Are they somehow absolved of that responsibility?

No discussion of Cheney and Bush is complete without the inclusion of Donald Rumsfeld . He may not be visible but rest assured his influence is still there. A true Architect of Disaster and among the worst of the worst.

I gotta second that. Rummy is responsible for giving us the benefits of Aspartame, a neurotoxin, let's not forget that. Oh, and the 2,6 trillion dollars 'missing' from the Pentagon books...

PS. Anybody running a business knows there's no such thing as 'missing money' when all the accounting is done electronically.

Cheney has made millions while in office...he and Rummy are the Kings of Conflict of Interest.
They profit from war immensely; they have no interest or motivation to cease war or conflicts.

Incredible story. Reads like a spy novel. The author's sources put you right inside Cheney's secret operations.

Every American should read this.

After eight years of subverting the Constitution, Bush, Cheney and their inner circle will leave their posts with 6 figure pensions. Rather than just retiring from public life, we the people should let them bask in the limelight a bit more by indicting them and letting them spend the rest of their days in court explaining why they should not be jailed

The behavior by this WH, the facts, etc., will be revealed one day. The real crime is that is was allowed with no substantive investigations, hearings, oversight, NOTHING.

Criminals always act in the dark. And the sad thing is, if it continues, and that's more than likely, it WON'T come out, ever. It will be buried like Kennedy's mu rd er, relegated to the realm of conspiracy theories. The shredders are working overtime as we type.

Bingo. Thank you for being spot on. What is very sad, nearly disgraceful, if NOT disgraceful is that YOUR GOVERNMENT at all levels has been involved.

I feel very sorry for your hate filled, non thinking nation.

If you read " The Shock Doctrine" by Naomi Klein you will quickly understand what and why things are the way they are. The cheapest and best education you can get. Be prepared to be very disheartened and angry as hell.

I also recommend "American Theocracy" by Kevin Phillips. Everything that is happening now was predicted in that book. "the peril and politics of radical religion, oil, and borrowed money in the 21 century" published 3 years ago.

The first four years of this demonic administration no hearings were allowed to take place. Remember that the DevilRepubs held both the house and the senate.
The second four years any hearing has been stonewalled even with issues of subpoenas, witnesses haven't come forward and then, if they do get that far, Mulkasey won't pursue any charges.

The fact is that when you read this you further get the impression that Bush effectively resigned after the inaugural parties were over and ceded the presidency to Cheney. Republican voters effectively cast ballots for the equivalent of a cardboard standup.

Historians are going to eat that whole cabal alive like a shark goes after wounded prey in the water. Too bad that the rules governing the release of archived government documents aren't going to let anyone see the fullest examination of what really went on for about another three generations or so (depending on how much shredding the Bush White House is doing or planning to do before Obama takes office). Only then will we have a true idea of how close we came to having the U.S. become a fascist dictatorship dictatorship.
