Via ThinkProgress, here's a video of various media types telling their viewers that it's totally okay that Sarah Palin doesn't know what the Bush Doctrine is. Why is it okay? Because most Americans don't know what it is either! And they're right! In order for most Americans to know what is going on in the world, there would have to be some sort of public institution by which important facts would be systematically communicated to the general public, perhaps through an interconnected network of cathode ray tubes or something!

In other news, I took my car to get inspected Friday and was told I needed some sort of "tie rod end" replaced. Like most Americans, I didn't know what a "tie rod end" was, didn't see why I needed a wheel alignment on top of the repair, and certainly didn't see why I needed to pay two hundred and some-odd dollars to get it fixed! Sounded like it was just a way to get me to line the pockets of Big Auto Mechanic!

So I did what John McCain would do, with his War Heroism: I gave the dude who hangs out on the front stoop of the pawn shop across the street from my apartment fifty bucks to fix it. And he did! And I'm satisfied. Sure, the front quarter of the car now makes a grinding, keening noise that sounds like a quintet of robotic beagles being pummeled by meteors, but to me, that's just the sound of my freedom to tell elite know-it-alls to suck it. I think I know how to repair a car! I mean, from my land, I can see other cars!

I don't know how to perform a root canal but damn it, can you imagine interviewing a person for the job of dental assistant and he or she fudges the question? What kind of dentist would hire a person who had no clue what the job requires?

Why would I hire a dentist who would do that?

I think the fact that she hold the highest elected office in a state she should more than kno what the bush doctrine is more so they say she is the commander and chief of her national guards in Alaska wouldnt they have to be used if the doctrine takes effect. MY God Help us all

George Will tried to pull the same thing on This Week, and I was surprised. He's a tool but he also doesn't suffer fools lightly. I guess they are rounding up the conservative pundits and whipping them into parroting the party line on Palin.

Sad. They seem more interested in their own interests and the Republican Party interests, than in the country's safety and well-being.

What is the Bush Doctrine?
Illegal pre-emptive invasions of sovereign conutries in violation of international norms and law..
Using the "fourth estate" as a tool to mislead a minority of the public with ommisions of pertinent facts regarding the fake threats another country posses? How about ignoring Constitutional safeguards against tyrannical wars by circumventing Congress? How about threats against federal judges against upholding law and order because they are getting close to indicting his co-conspiritors in high crimes and misdemeamors.
Is the Bush Doctrine a philosophy or criminnal "New Speak" used to destroy the basic and fundamental legacies of civil rights and civil society that have made our country stong and prosperous.
Is the Bush Doctrine the tool of deception which profits the conglomerate corporate theives who are bankrupting our nation and planet?

The question was asked in the debates several times. This probably implies that the Republican choice for VP was not even interested enough in US politics to watch the debates.

Charlie Gibson, in previous interviews and debates, asked candidates what the Bush Doctrine was and EVERY SINGLE ONE knew exactly what it was and what it meant, its radical change of direction in the way the US does its military business around the world. Palin doesn't know, and that's a huge problem. Foreign policy is not something you cram for.

hahaha, awesome point. It's not funny that they're giving her a pass. Maybe it's not funny at all, but I laughed at the first paragraph.

The Pundits keep talking about a Culture War. What we are talking about here is indeed a war. However, it is not a Culture War. It is the war that won’t go away -- good verses evil. It is the war that Mohandas K. Gandhi fought so magnificently and won. He came to this planet to teach us how to fight and win such wars but we will not listen.
“The greatest blindness is the blindness of one who will not see. (Elizabeth Haich) The Culture War is an illusion. The agents of evil keep duping us. They keep tricking us into fighting each other. As long as we do this we can’t focus on them -- the real enemy. This is Kinder logic. Who is the real enemy? I’ll tell you this. It is not McCain or Palin or even Bush.
Am I saying that McCain, Palin, Bush and their cronies are evil? No. They are simply confused pawns. Gandhi always referred to the British as his friends. He said that in the end, the British will simply pack their bags and leave India. And when they go, we want them to leave as friends. We do not have to hate the confused extremist to defeat them.

Bush Doctrine: Spend & Pretend.

Any number of different ideas could be considered the Bush doctrine so when Palin asked what was meant by the Bush Doctrine that was the only reasonable approach. In fact, Gibson's explanation of what the Bush doctrine was probably not the best choice. This is only a gotcha moment for people who don't understand administration policy.

It's a gotcha moment for anyone wanting to be VP and not knowing the 101s of the last eight years. Means that like our current bushitter, we would be subject to a VP that's tethered to the crafters of the Bush Doctrine. And because she doesn't know what's going on.........need I say more?

The point is that people who underdand know that there is no one Bush Doctrine.

I can forgive Sarah Palin for not knowing what the Bush doctrine is. I cannot forgive her for giving generic answers with catch phrases to hard questions. She clearly has very little knowledge of foreign or economic issues.

If the american people don't know what the Bush doctrine is maybee OK, but she is not your regular Jane, she is a candidate for Vice President of the United States of America! Again, the media defends what shouldn't be defended and makes her look like the poor victim. When I heard the comments of the reporters and political analysts I was so mad. I said to myself, Good job main stream media, good job.

Most "Dumericans" are not part of a Prez/VP ticket of a major party.

I for one don't mind if the people running the country are smarter than I are!

What these apologetic reporters for Palin fail to mention is; the average person on the street who does not know what the crazy Bush Doctrine is; is not running to be our Vice President.

McCain will pass the life expectancy of the average American while in office if elected, but when you consider his medical report is over 1500 pages long and has already undergone surgery for cancer 3 times, it is not being ageist to say there is a good chance Sarah will be our next president before McCain's term is completed.

Which brings us back to the original question; is she informed enough or experienced enough to take over the reins as our president?

It will be hard for an inexperienced novice in Washington to avoid the advise of the more experienced regulars that will be surrounding her, unfortunately for America we all know that she will be surrounded by Lon Cheney type of scary right wing republican professionals and warmongering neocons carried over from the Bush administration.

Sarah Palin's political philosophy appears to be to the Right of George W Bush in essence the only difference between the two is a skirt and some lipstick.

Obama/Biden

For a return to sanity in America.
