Chris Matthews Battles Nancy Pfotenhauer Over Economic Fundamentals (VIDEO)

Thanks to the heroic collapse of the world financial markets, no one on teevee felt compelled to spend fifty-six minutes out of every hour today debating whether the phrase "lipstick on a pig" was busy installing a glass ceiling. Here's an example of what went down today, with Hardball's Chris Matthews doing battle with McCain flack Nancy Pfotenhauer. It goes about as well as one can expect, with Pfotenhauer changing the subject just as fast as she can and Matthews attempting to wield "statistics," which everyone knows are totally in the tank for Obama. The whole tete-a-tete might have ended up being scored a draw were it not for Pfotenhauer's bizarre decision to debate middle-class economics while dressed in the aristocratic weeds of the Baroness Dierdre Von Goldencollar.

Chris Mathews handled this interview badly. All this woman did was again, attack Obama, and not state what McCain's policy for economic growth was, because there isn't one, unless you call creating a commission a policy. She should have been challenged on the tax hike issue, which is clearly false, again trying to scare Americans into thinking their taxes will be raised. Taxes will be raised on the top 1%. When you make up to 600,000$/yr, you should pay more, and those living paycheck to paycheck should not be footing the bill.

She is much better than Tucker Bounds I must admit. Every time I see Tucker come on a news show I'm always like, where is Nancy? I'm not a fan of hers or anything, but she can hold her ground. Tucker on the other hand simply criticizes when he has nothing to say.

This woman is the quintessential republican woman. They're always interrupting the Democrat, when asked a tough question, evading it by demonizing Barack or Joe's character while smiling and sneering at the Democratic expert. For some reason, like Fox, they're usually blonde. Notice that on Fox, with the exception of Grata Vansusteran, women are almost always the 3rd or 4th wheel, especially on their morning shows. Just an observation-why do so many women vote Republican? They've fought against giving new mothers time off after birth, equal pay, abortion rights, healthcare issues etc.

my family makes less than 250.000 a year. a tax break would be great. when we make over 250.000 a year a tax increase for us will be even better. the vision is to balance the economy those that have help those that struggle. we are not talking about a welfare state but a more equal state.
what we have been a part of for the last 8 years ia a state where the rich get richer with overblown tax breaks and the middle class which i am a part of get's hit hard with overzealous taxes.

She keeps going on shows and using the word "redistribution" as a negative -because she doesn't want her wealth redistributed.When the truth is told,her answer is talk over the host or interrupt,and when asked a question she doesn't like,she asks another question of her own ,and to sit there in designer clothing and complain about money and talk trickle down is just insulting.

Pfotenhauer was expounding one lie after another as reasons for the current economic crisis and had the audacity to put the blame on the Democrats! The nerve of her lying to the teeth that Obama's policies will hurt the economy

The picture is clear as crystal: A Republican occupies the White House for the last seven plus years. The Republicans controlled both Houses of Congress for the better part of that period. It was the failed policies of the Republicans during this period that has created this mess. And what the hell is she talking about ?

How can she get away with the swiftboat-type of lies that McCain with the similar failed no-tax-for-the-rich policies will generate economic growth and job creation?
