Chris Matthews Battles Nancy Pfotenhauer Over Economic Fundamentals (VIDEO)

Thanks to the heroic collapse of the world financial markets, no one on teevee felt compelled to spend fifty-six minutes out of every hour today debating whether the phrase "lipstick on a pig" was busy installing a glass ceiling. Here's an example of what went down today, with Hardball's Chris Matthews doing battle with McCain flack Nancy Pfotenhauer. It goes about as well as one can expect, with Pfotenhauer changing the subject just as fast as she can and Matthews attempting to wield "statistics," which everyone knows are totally in the tank for Obama. The whole tete-a-tete might have ended up being scored a draw were it not for Pfotenhauer's bizarre decision to debate middle-class economics while dressed in the aristocratic weeds of the Baroness Dierdre Von Goldencollar.

Pfotenhauer is totally obnoxious - probably one of the most unattractive of Mac's bevy of moronic female court attendants. She no more knows what she speaks of then Sarah Palin. Who trains these rotes?

Chris did try but I've never seen anyone get through to this particular jester. She just keeps repeating the lesson. I notice that Pfotenhauer has adopted Palin's hairstyle - so precious!

Both times I thought the interviewer was just trying to have questions answered and tried to keep them on the point not the talking points.

McCain's female surrogates are so unappealing. Nancy and Carly are the physical embodiments of "stuck up" (as Carly would say, "in the extreme...."). And it doesn't help McCain that all they seem to be able to do is robitically spout buzzwords, cliches and platitudes rather than answer questions. Oh, I forgot. Questions are sexist.

That McCain spokeswoman is a lobyist. That means that she gets paid a hefty sum to argue her side and her side only. She isn't a person to go to for the truth. By definition she is someone you go to for a 100% lop-sided point of view.

This is the same woman that said HRC wasn't a victim of sexism and if she were she needs to be tough, then cried about how Palin is a victim of sexism. I saw this last night and I gotta say that I'm starting to lose respect for Chris. He was on the boderline of being rude and unprofessional and I gotta say Nancy kept her cool. I was impressed on how she handled the situation. Chris was always interupting her and wouldn't let her get in a word at all. I was not impressed at all by Chris.

I did watch and was dumbfounded that this gal and the whole McCain camp still doesn't get it. They just keep trying to blame everyone but deregulation and no one watching Wall Street. Even a staffer in the McCain camp is responsible for this mess. That being Phil Gramm. Back when he was still in the Congree and he sat on the Banking committee he help write the law that degregulate the mortgage industry that set this ball rolling. Bush 41 with the help of Phil wife who wrote the law deregulatiing speculators that set off the Enron mess (who she later when to work for) also help to create this mess. Bush 43 had a chance to stop the housing meltdown and didn't.
