NEW YORK — Television's Mr. Big is going off-Broadway.

Chris Noth, best known for his role as Sarah Jessica Parker's major love interest on "Sex and the City," will appear in the world premiere of "Farragut North," Beau Willimon's play of political intrigue.

The Atlantic Theater Company production opens Nov. 12 at its off-Broadway theater. Preview performances begin Oct. 22.

According to Willimon, Noth will play "a veteran political operative, manager to an insurgent presidential campaign. A gruff, boisterous personality with a razor-sharp intelligence and an even sharper tongue."

John Gallagher Jr., a Tony winner for "Spring Awakening," portrays a young press secretary in the show. Also in the cast are Dan Bittner, Kate Blumberg, Otto Sanchez, Olivia Thirlby and Isiah Whitlock Jr. The director is Doug Hughes.

He was wonderful on Broadway a couple of seasons back in a revival of Glengarry Glen Ross with a superb ensemble cast that included Liev Schrieber and Alan Alda. Noth had the play's most thankless role (it's the part Ed Harris played in the movie), but he made a strong impression nonetheless.

Good move, Chris. There's more to an actor's life than making it big in movies. Do good work. Miss you on CI, but looking forward to meeting Goldblum.

I think all of the Law and Order stuff is pretty much winding down. I love SVU because of Chris and Mariska but let's face it the stories are getting a little tired and some story lines seem to be repeated from years ago. Let's hope Chris can do something more comedic in the future...oh and something that would require him to remove his shirt frequently.

Yes, between Big and Logan he's been very limited.
(Has anyone noticed 'Big' was VERY like Jack Nicholson...it reminded me
of Tony Curtis doing Cary Grant in "Some Like it Hot." I am happily looking
forward to his new untapped interpretations. Good luck Chris!!!:)
