Tilda Swinton Q&A: Gave Oscar To Her Agent

Tilda Swinton, who won an Oscar this year for "Michael Clayton," stars in the Coen brothers comedy "Burn After Reading." She spoke to Ramin Setoodeh.

One of your fans writes about you online, "This dude is my favorite actor."
Really? It's a very nice compliment to be called a dude.

Is it true you don't like wearing makeup?
Well, I mean, I love wearing makeup. But if you want to look like yourself, it's not such a good plan. You end up looking like someone else.

Are you wearing makeup now?
Right now? Not a stitch. I'm not actually wearing any clothes right now. The man who's driving the car is enjoying this very much. No, he's enjoying the joke. There isn't time. Think how much time it takes people to get made up.

I wouldn't know. I'm a guy.
Well, so am I, then. And there are people who think I am.

Where's your Oscar?
I gave it away to my agent.

I watch movies. As many as possible. When I saw her with ewan McGreggor I knew she was destinedto win an award for her talent, and she will go a long way as a respected actress.
When I first saw her asthe arrogant leader of the gweeszhy island inthe movie opposite Leonardo De Caprio " The beach" of course I was angry because she was so much olderand might effect his life, yet- not quite yet am I so worried about it anymore. She deserved this 10 years ago.

When I saw Michael Clayton, I had an intensely visceral and negative feeling toward the character Swinton played. While stewing about the behavior of the character, it occurred to me what a great job Swinton was doing with the part.

For my tastes, Orlando was Swinton at her bests. More than that, I enjoy the lack of pretension she has about her. Not that I mind pretension; Clooney is full of it and I love him, but when an actress such as Swinton can be amazing and down to earth, it's just a joy.

I saw "Burn After Reading" and was incredibly disappointed. Brad Pitt was funny. That was the only nice thing I can say about the movie.

Swinton played the exact same character in "Burn" that she played in "Michael Clayton" and "The Beach" - a hateful, manipulative b*tch. She does nothing for me. I'm convinced she must be playing herself.
