Amy Poehler Hillary Clinton

Mens Vogue:

No matter what happens in November, Amy Poehler's impersonation of Hillary Clinton on Saturday Night Live will be remembered as one of the high points of the 2008 election. Bossy, bouffanted, totally absurd, Poehler's send-up helped earn her an Emmy nomination, the show's first supporting actress nod in 30 years. It also managed to steer the political debate, lure Clinton onto SNL -- excavating her sense of humor in the process -- and give her campaign some much-needed oxygen. McCain and Obama may be safe from an Amytation, but their Secret Service details are feeling the heat: The Massachusetts-born Poehler delights in tormenting the grim-faced agents whenever the candidates make cameos. "They're pretty badass and super secret, and they just love it if you give them a nickname," she says. "Like, just call 'em Foxtrot, or like, Hey, Fireball. What's up, Danger Mouse?"

But after seven seasons on Saturday Night Live, she'll anchor her final Weekend Update later this fall and start filming a new mockumentary series for NBC from the producers of The Office. "It's gonna be really hard -- Boyz II Men hard -- to say goodbye to yesterday," Poehler says. "SNL was dangerous, late-night, last-minute, and star-studded, but like any good drug, you need to know when to put it down."

Amy Poehler leaving "Saturday Night Live"?

The show will be about ten minutes long, then. Since they put her in every sketch.

She has been one of the problems with SNL in recent years. She show has been awful, and she's been one of the most prominent cast members. The show will be better off without her.

She is dodging a bullet by leaving the fatally unfunny SNL. Seth Meyers has run it into the ground! I think this is the smartest move she could do.

I love Amy. I'm going to miss her on SNL.

We like Amy too, but Kristen Whigg will fill the void with ease. She's the best new cast member in years.

I hope Poehler isnt one of those SNLers who thinks her career is going to sky rocket when she leaves SNL. Only a hand handful of the new school SNLers have left and found success. If you aren't being let go, then you should stay on Amy.

Too funny.

baloney. she's part of the totally exposed "comedy mafia," suffers from janeane garafalo syndrome and should say "no" to a part once in a while.

I think this is okay, I've always thought the only reason she was on SNL was because she was friends with Tina Fey and Horatio Sans, I don't think she really "needed it" I mean she was one of the founding members of the UCB which is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, Improv theatre troops around, and she already had a cult TV show, so I was surprised to see her join in the first place but it did get her name out there and make her more mainstream, but what I'm really trying to say is that I think this is a good move because it will let her expand more, She really is very smart and funny and I feel like SNL stifled some of her wit.

That's my biggest criticism of Lorne Michaels. he recruits these great comic actors from improv theaters like the Groundlings yet tells his players NOT to improv during the show. And this extends to the guests as well. Adrian Brody has been banned because he dared to use a jamaican accent while introducing Sean Paul when he hosted after winning the Oscar.
I think SNL stifles all the talent that come there.

I like her. She's funny and smart. But, she's pregnant and from what I've read, doing SNL is really grueling work. She can now look forward to working hard at shooting several segments at a time of her new show and having nice long breaks in between to spend with her new kid. Best of luck to her in her future endeavors!
