Financial Times:

Barack Obama fought to regain the initiative in the presidential race on Tuesday as the Wall Street financial crisis threatened to stall the recent burst of momentum behind John McCain.

The banking meltdown has thrust the economy back to the centre of the campaign, giving Mr Obama a chance to hit back after two weeks of declining poll numbers and escalating Republican attacks.

It just happens to be correct---so it's not surprising that you would dislike it.

You're allergic to facts, Neo.

Yes, Obama will cut your taxes, true. But by raising taxes on corporations, he will, in essence, increase your taxes. Does anyone really believe that corporations will not simply pass on the cost of Obama's tax hike onto the middle- and lower-classes?

Ironic that it's a Republican administration bringing socialism to the market place.

Most of the country has been mistakenly thinking that it would be the Democratics that would bring this about.

Way to go Republicans for outing those that truly need socialism the most (at great cost to the rest of us).

the laughably named "think tank" known as the ameri can ent erprise institute is also chaired by and largely funded by yet another one of the top ten most highly paid hedge fund managers. he takes his money made from things like a failing housing market and crashing investments and plows it into the people responsible for coming up with the policies of misery the neo^cons have implemented around the world, not just here.

friedmanism is a failure of the highest order, folks, and it's long past time a -stake was -driven through its _heart once and for all.

no one seems to be thinking much about the fact that this is going to echo all over the world. all those bad subprime mortgages were bundled into securities that were sold around the world. which means there's a lot of p1ssed people EVERYWHERE right now. the hedge fund managers who were responsible for bundling these so called "securities" packages that sold into the mutual funds of the little people who counted on them for their retirements, aren't going to feel a thing because they took their "profits" in cash. and because they were called "profits" and not a regular "paycheck," the hedge fund managers only paid a 15% capital gains tax on their money, instead of the normal more than 30% that such giant incomes usually warrant. the most highly paid hedge fund manager this past year, a man named john paulson, made most of his $3.7 BILLION off of the bad paper he bundled together and foisted off on other people. he shorted the mortgage market, knowing full well it was going to fail, and then paid only 15% of it in taxes. that 3.7 billion was his take for one year.

People ARE pissed off here but not necessarily at America but more at themselves...for being fools (in the UK which took the brunt).

even CHINA is feeling the heat from the housing market meltdown, because they invested in a lot of the bad paper from countrywide mortgages inadvertently. they were bundled together with a little bit of good paper, and they thought hey, it's the u.s. what could go wrong? what they forgot about, was, oh yeah, we've got all the jobs they used to have!

Rumor has it that Buffett is going to make a public appearance, exposing the Republicans as "incompetent" in regards to the economy.

Hmmm.... recognized as the world's best money-man, letting Americans know that they're government is inept in the field.

Damaging?

Oh yah.

Did anyone see McCain on GMA this morning? Sawyer asked the question... "Would you be in favor of overturning Roe V Wade?" He never got the chance to answer. Cindy jumped in and said that "@bortion is not an issue that anyone is concerned with right now with the economic state of the country." Earth to Cindy... @bortion is an issue that doesn't just go away when another one presents itself.

It isn't an issue just because you dingbats say it is. It's the fear mongering you idjits do every election. It's boring.

Such projection, Neo!

The entire Republican party is built on fear-mongering.
Always has been.
Always will be.

Because the GOP is bereft of ideas---just as it's bereft of morals, ethics, and intellectual development.

The problem is that the Federal Reserve bank is going to bail out all the big banks, investment banks, stock brokers....they are going to bail them all out. But no one is going to bailout any of the other sectors of the economy. Just the financial services sector, which has been coddled and pampered into a thieving bunch of racketeers who are sucking the money out of the taxpayers with the FED's help. Ever wonder why the stock market rebounds after dropping 300 points? Maybe because the FED steps in and starts buying up the stock. This kind of protectionism for this sector of the economy has led to the crisis we are in now. Ever hear of the Plunge Protection Team? The Presidents Working Group?

It is time for Congress to begin auditing the FED.

There must be some kind of way out of here
Said the joker to the thief
Theres too much confusion
I cant get no relief
Businessman they drink my wine
Plow men dig my earth
None will level on the line
Nobody of it is worth
Hey hey

No reason to get excited
The thief he kindly spoke
There are many here among us
Who feel that life is but a joke but uh
But you and I weve been through that
And this is not our fate
So let us not talk falsely now
The hours getting late
Hey

Hey

All along the watchtower
Princes kept the view
While all the women came and went
Bare-foot servants to, but huh
Outside in the cold distance
A wild cat did growl
Two riders were approachin
And the wind began to howl
Hey
Oh
All along the watchtower
Hear you sing around the watch
Gotta beware gotta beware I will
Yeah
Ooh baby
All along the watchtower

If the sun refuse to shine,.. I don't mind, I don't mind,

If the mountains fell in the sealet it be, it ain't me.

Now if 6 turned out to be 9, I don't mind, I don't mind,

White collared conservative flashing down the street, pointing their plastic finger at me.

They're hoping soon my kind will drop and die,

But I'm gonna wave my freak flag high, high....Wave on, wave on

Fall mountains, just don't fall on me Go ahead on Mr. Business man, you can't dress like me.

Alright, 'cos I got my own world to look through, And I ain't gonna copy you.

The above is a letter from BARACK OBAMA , ( Senator from Ilinois)

to Bernanke, (Federal Reserve Chairman)

and to Secretary of Treasury Paulson

on March 22, 2007, a full 18 MONTHS BEFORE THE COLLAPSE OF WALL ST.

Do you think with this letter and his insights, he might know what he is talking about,

Just as he was clear in HIS OPPOSITION TO THE WAR IN iRAQ and his reasons !!

What was old Johnny Boy doing? Probably asleep in Sedona thinking that the "Fundamentals of the Economy" are sound and Bush/Cheney has it JUST RIGHT!! Who knows, He might have been dreaming even then of having another BEAUTY QUEEN as a bookend to SUGAR MAMA !!

Now he has to get all Democratic.
