McCain's campaign has been all over the place today - from the economy, to his criticism of morning show anchors, to whether he invented the BlackBerry and on Sarah Palin's inability to run a company. And to make matters worse, conservative pundits are turning against McCain.

The biggest flub came this morning when McCain slammed Wall Street "fat cats" even though his single biggest donor is Merrill Lynch. After denouncing the very people that help pay for his campaign, McCain suggested the government set up a commission to look into what went wrong. Barack Obama criticized McCain for "passing the buck" on the economy:

Democratic candidate Barack Obama says he will take regulatory oversight seriously as president and accuses his Republican opponent, John McCain, of wanting to "pass the buck."

McCain proposed Tuesday to create a commission to study how the economic crisis came about. McCain compared it to the Sept. 11 commission established to investigate the 2001 terrorist attacks.

We've been fed a steady diet since 9/11 that America is under t h r e a t . If this is a fact, why aren't the Republican choices for the top two positions reflecting this? Why have they seemed to negate that argument with their selection of a candidate who had not gone beyond the borders of this country before her 43rd birthday, to replace a President who might demit office for health reasons in the first year? Why are the contents of his medical records such a big secret?

If they're not taking this "t h r e a t" seriously, how should we take it?

The repubicans may have been in charge in 2005, but from 2006 till now the democrats have has control of congress. We as americans have to ban together and tell ALL our congressmen and woman, enough is enough. And until that happens it doesn't matter who gets in as president, this country will still have the same problems because neither one of the canidates are talking about the issues. All they are doing is lieing to all of us.

McCain is out of his depth. An open secret in this campaign is that -- for all his claims of experience -- McCain is not an engaged Senator and doesn't know very much about public policy.

Why isn't the press asking why Cindy McCain clings to her husand like a cheap suit. Is she administering medication? What gives here. Someone please answer.

That is so funny, I agree. You never see Michele. Could it be that one is a hard working advocate, while the other is just styling and profiling ?

"Cheap" does not apply to Cindy. I'll have you know, at the RNC she was decked out in garb that cost $316,000, so you may need to revise your figure of speech. "Cheap" refers to the strategy and tricks the GOP employs to keep their nominees on every front page, and will use to get them elected in November.

The incompetence of this man is earth shattering! He should focus on more meaningful tasks. I think a walk on the dark side .........like a visit to the gr@veyard in search of a plot would be a wise move for him. He's the epitome of the walking d@ad!

For your info, McCain predicted this in 2005, and co-sponsored a bill calling for federal oversight of mortgage funds. Obama - and most Democrats - voted against it. The bill was defeated. In May of 2006, McCain addressed the Senate and predicted the implosion of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Congress did nothing, and the inevitable happened.

It seems that congress failed to act because many of them were receiving big lobby money from these funds. In fact, the second biggest recipient of funds from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac was Barack Obama.

"In fact, the second biggest recipient of funds from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac was Barack Obama."

Gee, more lies from the McCain camp. Guess we know why you haven't abandoned him yet, you approve of this kind of politics.

In REALITY both houses of congress were controlled by REPUBLICANS in 2005. The dems couldn't have defeated ANY bill. It was the repubs who were most against reform, and who were taking the majority of lobby money from the fat cats.

And you're right, McCain was a different person back before he got the republican nomination for president. The big question now is, will the real McCain please stand up?

What a pitiful little man John S. McCain (the war hero) has become. Sadly, he has spent all of his good will "capitol". Wobbling all over the place with his "platform" and still a sap for a pretty face.

What is happening over there? I am posting from Australia - Palin is getting a lot of press over here as someone who appeals to the base elements of people- scary thing is this often wins elections -

Elections are an interesting time for Americas and the worlds sake I hope that people can see through the fear campaign that will be run

We must all be afraid. America is in a tug of war election where one side seeks to exploit the populations basest fears and the other side urges us to unite and make life better for the whole population. Palin comes from the same mold as Bush. It is frightening.

Nice to hear from Australia. Wish I could visit you but we're in a little economic crunch here. Palin may appeal to some twits, but as a woman, mother, and concerned, educated voter, she doesn't speak at all about the serious issues that face this country. She is flat-out uneducated.

Well, she doesn't have to be educated to appeal to the visceral thinkers, so the GOP dark lords chose well...you must know by now that this has nothing to do with judgment and integrity, or even issues; it's about winning an election. By any means necessary.

That's the problem when you're a white-haired dude with a wrinkly-grey brain - gaffes become a daily occurence. Mental slippage, yeah, that's what I want in a President!

The Spy.

And btw, on the subject of the white-haired one, this is great:

Anybody remember a quote by McCain caught on video at the Iowa Straw Vote (pre-primary), sometime in 2007, where McCain says "If you voted for Bush, vote for me"? I'm certain my memory is true about this... Just need confirmation and it should be used by the Obama campaign.
