The Obama camp, sensing blood, released a new ad this morning taking John McCain to task for calling the fundamentals of the economy "strong" in the midst of a financial sector crisis.

Titled, "Fundamentals," the spot runs through some of the more alarming headlines of recent days: "Lehman Brothers Collapses," "Markets In Turmoil," "Job Losses at 605,000 For The Year," and "Foreclosures at 9,800 A Day," before getting to McCain's line and repeating it three times. The ad ends with the knife: "How can John McCain fix our economy if he doesn't understand it's broken?"

Coming off the back-and-forth between McCain and Obama yesterday, it seems clear that the campaigns will again focus on economy today. Certainly, the spot reflects a more populist tone that Obama is seeking to strike.

The ad, the campaign says, will air in "key states," but these things have become the equivalent of daily video press releases.

Did you see the John Neffinger (sp?) piece on Huffington reminding us that Republicans Bush/Cheney/Rove/McCain et al pushed for privatization of Social Security a few months ago? That should be a good ad.

Yes. They're finally getting it. Simple and Strong. That's the winning combination for ads, debates, everything. Whenever Obama gets complex, Americans are too stupid to understand.

This is the type of gaffe that could seal McCains November fate. Bush 41 pretended that we weren't in the middle of a recession and it cost him the election. The Dems are finally stepping up to the plate. Tying McCain to Bush seemed to have dwindling returns for some reason, but comparing McCain to Bush and the ghost of Herbert Hoover is good, and accurate after yesterday.

All McCain did was parrott what his adviser Phil Graham said in July after making his infamous "nation of whiners" comment. I'm sure it is strong for multi-millionaire Graham...unfortunately, most of us don't fall in his economic bracket.

McCain..out of touch and out of his mind.

Bush = REPUBLICAN
McCain = REPUBLICAN
McCain = Bush

Why is that so hard for so many Republicans to understand? Are they stupid or ignorant - or both? sheesh.

When you admittedly does not know much about the economy, what else could the sellout say? When you have a dozen houses and millions, of course you would think everything is just fine. Bless his rich little old out of touch heart.

Though we had a robust economy under the Clinton Administration.
The RNC never gave the Clinton's a rest, they were on a campaign to destroy them the moment they took the White House,
imagine if Clinton had not won twice in a row. What would America Look like with 12 yrs of Republican rule and Free Market De-Regulated Economy. And only one Term of Clinton
oh my God. that brought a tear to my eyes...........
Clinton's economy created 22.5 million jobs and increased families incomes by 7,500.00.
Bush on the other hand lost millions of jobs never to be counted, his economy created less paying jobs for families -2,000 in income. and Bush economic policies created a grand total of 5.5 million jobs over hsi 8 years. Since jan 1 American Families have lost 605,000 jobs.
God Please Bless and Save America
With the change we need

Interesting response from McCain: he meant "people" when he said fundamental of the economy. HA!

This is pathetic. If he did mean the people, then he has no idea what the word meant when referring to economy. And this is the guy to fix the economy? Is that before or after he fixed English?

When said things wrong, redefine language. How low can you go.

McCain has no idea. McCain lacks both leadership and principle. Where was he all these years, especially as Chair of the Commerce Committee? What has he said about Palin refusing to coopearte with investigators. That is a question of leadership! IN POLITICS, THEY CALL IT STONEWALLING! She is as guilty as it gets. It is exactly the same tactics that McCain and his Bush-trained handlers learned from Bush the current president. If Palin goes down, the McCain campaign goes down--and they know it. So they will do everything to protect the brand--which happens to be a lie! McCain''s best hope is to sustain deceit-in everything. He doesn''t want this election to be about issues. His hope for winning is now pinned on hoodwinking us all and riding on Palin''s so-called "star power," a view of politics that he once derided. THE MESSAGE IS PALIN—NOTHING ELSE IS. Beyond Palin, McCain evaporates. It is a bubble though, and clearly opportunistic. IS THERE ANY DIFFERENCE THEN in what McCain has done by choosing Palin as a running mate to a man who sells his soul to the devil? There is no "country first" here; it is all about "McCain first."

Carly Fiorina said yesterday or today on a radio show that Palin was not qualified to run Hewlett-Packard.
She just said on MSNBC that none of the canidates are qualified to run a large corporation because running a company is different than running this country.
The talking head, Ms. Fiorina, said last week that Palin ran her family business, was a Mayor, and is now a governor and that she is qualified to be a heart-beat-away from the Oval office chair.
Let's follow Ms. Fiorina's logical points as express last week. Palin ran family fishing business; Palin ran small town as its Mayor; Palin is running the state of Alaska; Palin is, according to Ms Fiorina, qualified to run a country that has the business complexity which exceeds that of Hewlett-Packard complexity by a factor of 1,000,000,000. But Palin is not qualified to run Hewlett-Packard.
Well Ms. Fiorina, neither were you because they "fired" you now didn't they. I had stock in Hewlett-Packard when they fired you. I was glad to see you go. Unfortunately, they filled your pocket book on your way to the door.
I am afraid of you, John McCain, and Sarah Palin.
I am not afriad of Obama. White Republican For Obama
